And the award for the easiest cryptic of all time goes to...
As a rocket scientist no, as a tidy footballer yes, probably not a top player but he has potential, ridiculous statement..
Potential to play for a low level premiership team maybe but not us tryna be a consistent CL team. He wasn't even that good for sunderland. Ppl just agree with whatever the media say. (the 22 goal Torres is useless but the 2 goal Wellbeck is Englands messiah, I could go on) rose cant defend at all, benny is good defender but can try to much and stupid things. Sunderland were shocking defensively and rode was part of it. And they scored very little aswel and supposedly rose was there for his attacking ability. If he was that good he'd be the u21's first choice left back but he's not... I'll let rose do the talking for himself then see if your still saying the same wether he may at spurs or not... And plus Naughton is better than rose and looked good for us when given a run out. Out played walker for a few games mid season...
ITK before said we're after three quality players, so paulinho, Villa and Benetke/Brazilian striker (I don't want to type his name)

Great post, Shea!!.. I'll just point out that nobody has compared him to Drogba or Henry, just pointed out that they didn't 'discover themselves' until they were years older than young Harry Kane is, so we'd be mad to give up on him whilst he's still young enough to not even count as a squad member. Let's see how the boy develops into a man first.
It's why there should be some kind of B league available. Maybe for players under a certain age...Thing is, we cant do that for all the young players who 'haven't found themselves yet', otherwise we would have loads of players on our books just in the vain hope that they might turn out to be a late bloomer. The club has to, at some point cut their losses and release whoever the player may be.
For example we have released Bostock. Now a few years ago he was the next big thing but we cant hold on to him forever hoping that he will one day fulfil his early promise. The coaches at the club will make a judgement call at some point as to if they think 'player x' is going to make it or not and when the decision is made, that player is dropped.
I would say that if a player buy the age of 20/21 isn't showing that he can be a first team player at our club, then there is only a very slim chance that that will change in the future. The example's of Drogba, et al are rare in the extreme.
Consider the amount of players who make it as pro, then think about how many of them 'didn't make it' until they were in their early twenties? A amazingly disproportionate number will have come down the normal route.
Off the top of my head, late bloomers would include, Drogba, Kevin Phillips, Ian Wright, that Italian full-back when they last won the world cup, and errrrr.....? And bear in mind we are talking about players to make it to the top of the game, not to the lower divisions.
Now I'm all for giving someone a chance but there has to be a line and I think Kane is fast approaching it.
He wasn't even that good for sunderland.
Wasn't he their player of the year?

I thought "wasn't even that good for sunderland" was harsh. Saying he was horseshit is a bit too extreme neddersAbsolute horseshit.

Anybody heard of a Lenny Nangis ? He is claiming that we along with the Toffees are interested in him.

That was the point: Nextgen, Premier Reserve League, U21 League: we have the opportunity to give plenty of game time and we have the option to send them out on loan. If there is a hint of promise, we have ways to keep them on the books. I'm pretty sure that the only time a player is released is when there is 100% certainty that they are not the next big thing. That's the idea behind the next gen series I think
OK, I stopped reading newspapers years ago, can't watch SKY as I'm in Oz and the only outlet to the 'meeja' I actually use is this site.
I do, however, subscribe to Foxtel Sports who sho every single Premiership game without a pay per view. Therefore, I have been able to watch an awful lot of Football. As I live in Rugby land (Queensland) believe me I need to get my Football fix so I watch virtually everything, Sunderland included.
I rate Rose. He's quick, strong, intelligent (mostly) with the ball, can pick a pass, can pick a cross and is a strong little bugger. His game has come on leaps and bounds in just one season so there's no reason to believe it won't improve further.
He reminds me of a raw Patrice Evra, tenacious with bundles of energy and a ruthless streak when required.
There are few, if any, fullbacks out there who are the finished product at his age, but then you could say that for just about any position on the pitch. Rose, for my Onions, shows immense promise and that is based on what I have seen with my own eyes this past season. Sunderland fans may have been served up some tripe this year but he wasn't part of that. They know their Football enough up there to know whether he is just the best of a bad bunch or if he has quality and they have described him as the latter.
You're very dismissive of positive opinion on him here, are you sure it's not you just following along with the negativity based on what you saw when he wore Lillywhite?
It's fairly evident you're no aficionado on him, based on your U21 comment, so maybe you are parroting popular negative opinion and should, maybe, watch him actually play? ;o)
