Lloris 7- pulled off some really good saves

Rose 7- got pulled about about city's overload but handled it better than trip. Great gaol saving tackle at one point

Vertonghen 6- all over the place that first half I thought tbh

Toby 9 -mountain

Trip 5.5 - got an assist and improved massively in final 30 minutes but was being destroyed, ball watching for 2 of city's goals

Wanyama 7- solid enough for a dude whose barely played football for over a year
Sissoko looked his usual quality until injuried.

Dele 6- thought he was poor up top and then in the middle, wanting way too much time on the ball but played some neat passes

Eriksen 6- as above really, that Pass at the end was criminal

Lucas 6 - ran around a bunch, didn't do anything. Tbf to him, Dele and Erisken city gave us no time on the ball but...

Son 10 - total world class even in that high pressure environment.
Llorente 9- for the priceless goal alone

Not going to do ratings, truth be told there was very very little of the game I liked and as a performance I was tearing my hair out.

However, I'm just relieved and thrilled that we clung on just about and somehow we did manage to find a way, and the rub of the green and finest margins went our way for once. Plus I'm still too utterly exhausted to write down any coherent thoughts.

Football, bloody hell.

Can anyone tell me why Son got booked, i missed it.....great win boys, love it!!!

He was holding onto KDB (might have been Aguero) as he was about to run into the box. Rose tackled him anyway, but Son definitely had his arms.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Supported this club since 1980, and I can say without doubt that's easily one of the very best games I can recall watching. Such a rollercoaster ride. Couldn't be happier for all us fans who have waited years to enjoy these types of moments, that the likes of City fans now take for granted.

Lloris 8 - Some really important saves today. You could tell how much this meant to him.

Tripps 6 - Horrible 1st half. Was out of position constantly and offered nothing going the other way. Improved some in the 2nd half. But really can be a liability against teams like City.
Toby 8 - Was strong and organized all game long. A really professional performance. He was focused and determined, and unlike some players I can think of, was not mentally elsewhere contemplating his dream move.
Verts 8 - Much like Toby he was composed and strong, against an attack that just kept at them relentlessly. Also, was not helped by weak and unfocused midfield play at times. Yeah, and his fullbacks weren't that helpful for large chunks of that game.
Rose 6 - Slightly better than Tripps. And also seemed to do a bit better in the 2nd half. He's another player that seems to lose focus during games and has an annoying tendency to make costly errors. If we had lost today, both he and Tripps would've gotten lower scores. But 'cos we won, i'm feeling generous!!

Sissoko 7 - was looking solid until he went off. super unlucky with the injury. we missed his physicality once he was outta the middle.
Wanyama 7 - gotta give this guy some credit for playing two full games in a week, following large spells out injured or on the bench. while he didn't have the best 1st half, he stuck to his task and didn't make it easy for the City MFs.
Dele 6 - Sorta a hit-n-miss game from him. Seemed to lack a bit of fight and zest at times. Presumably was a little subdued cos of his broken hand. He put in a good shift though and tried hard to make things happen.
Eriksen 6 - it hasn't been a brilliant season from our Dane. He's looked distracted at times. Today was a really mixed bag. Had some decent moments, and also had some pretty dumb ones. If not for VAR, we'd all be buying him a ticket to Madrid tonight.

Sonny 9 (MOM) - Stood up to be counted when it mattered most. He played two or three different positions tonight, and worked his tail off. As for the goals… they speak for themselves. Why he can't play this way when Harry is in the team, is a mystery.
Moura 6 - I felt that he worked hard, but didn't see much of the ball. And when he did, they quickly closed him down. That said, the threat of his pace, I feel opened up space for Son and probably contributed to his goals.

Subs:
Llorente 7
- What a lad. Didn't exactly boss it, and I feel had a few calls go against him. But when it mattered, he got the all important goal. The winner. And you can see just what it meant to him. Fantastic.

Davies and Sanchez - helped to steady things at the back in the dying minutes

Poch - 10/10 - speak about being brave. The lineup he put out there to start the game was courageous to say the least. Wasn't expecting him to play that many attacking players. But credit to him for getting the boys to believe and come out much more focused in the 2nd half. He is truly a class act, and deserves to lead this team into the semis. So happy for him, his staff and the players. They've earned it.

Food for thought here guys...

We just played City, at the Etihad, when they were bang up for it and played at the top of their game.
We were missing our main striker, 4 fifths of our midfield, lost arguably our most influential player early in the second half....

And we scored 3 goals...

For those of you bemoaning the “performance,” ruminate on that for a bit.

Son looked 100% up for it right from the off. His goals got us through an incredibly difficult tie.

Honourable mention for Wanyama. Struggling back from a long term injury, lacking match fitness and sharpness but played his 2nd full game in a week. Yes, he was blowing and struggling but we had no options. What a fucking warrior!

Feels weird to say that, on a day we qualified for the CL semi finals, no one really deserved MOTM because we weren’t very good, there was an abundance of individual howlers and we probably deserved to lose by a wider margin than we did.

But none of that matters since the final goal was ruled out.

We won’t get away with that again any time soon.

Llorente my MOTM for smacking in the winner off his big sexy Latino hips. Shakira in disguise.

We didn't make unforced individual howlers, we made mistakes because Man City are seriously good and they pressurised and forced us into making mistakes. That's what good teams do.

What people don't seem to see is that we forced Man City into making mistakes. That's how we scored our first two goals, which put us in position to squeak out the win by way of a hipbone and an offside call.

Players of the calibre of the 28-odd who played tonight don't often make mistakes against Huddersfield. They make mistakes against Man City. And they make mistakes against Spurs. Good teams apply pressure and pressure forces errors. There's always been way too much focus on individual errors in these post-match assessments. It was a wonderful football match and we did enough to come out on top. The scintillating play and ever-changing tactics from both sides were way more important than who made errors.

Mate I want them to beat us in the league, and then win every game they have left. If the Dippers won the league it would take the sheen off our Champions league glory. Can't wait till May. Danny Rose lifting the Champions League. Gonna be awesome

you might be disappointed that Danny won't lift the trophy in May

the Final is in June

Son motm - clinical.
MP is magic but given how our 4 man defence was stretched, not playing a 5 man defence with the addition of Sanchez is a mystery to me. Especially when playing Trippier up against Stirling.
MP has masterminded one the great CL results and it is frustrating that some of his key decisions seem counter intuitive.

When Moussa went off I thought game over especially as skipp would have to come on for Vic. Amazing he’s done so well and lasted the 90. Not being funny but wtf was the extra added time all about. Seemed pretty crooked allowing the game to run over.

If you play a 5 man defence you lose a man in midfield, don't think you want that happening - we were light in that position as it is.
