Sissoko was good.

I don't understand why people still want to castigate him for his weaknesses we should all know what kind of player he is by now.

Yeah we know what kind of player he is. That does not lead automatically to happiness with his input in the game.
There are some nice, tidy players in the league with similar work effort and body like sissoko. But they can actually play football

Toby...........................7....... See Reguilón.
Dier............................6+......Averagely not shit
Lloris..........................6.........Avoided the shit
Lamela......................6..........Not quite shit.
Kane..........................6..........Verging on shit
Son............................6-.........Definitely shit
Dombele..................5..........Right in the shit
Doherty....................5...........More or less shit.
Sissoko.....................4...........Head shit shoveller

Bale............................12..........He who can do not wrong.Falls in shit comes up smelling of roses.
Davies and Lo Celso............Avoided most of the shit sitting on the bench.

Playing shit is not a long term recipe for success over a season.
You win the odd game or even a few but no team ever won the league
playing like we did today.

We just have to work with what we have.

Mourinho must think he is the best of his options.

Can not even really blame Mourinho as the only other option for full 90 minutes in this position seems to be Winks and well, thats not the upgrade i would like to have.

I think there have been periods this season where we have showed what we can and should be doing in our play, more so than last season. But with the performance today it is starting to tip the other way again. First 10-15 mins was good again but after that what happened??? I cant work out whether we let Brighton in or they just settled and their tactics wouldnt allow us to play.

It feels that if our full-backs are pressed deep and not allowed time, we are stuffed and dont know what to do but lump it forward.

Alderweireld motm

For all the number 10's we had on the pitch, Toby's pass wide was the most creative of the game.
Solid defensively. Not sure if he was part at fault for Graham Scott's goal - but none of that passage of play is valid anyway.
For me, Sissoko was the worst on the pitch, again. Seems like if his mate aurier is not playing, he don't want to know.
Credit to bale for scoring, but you have to wonder how the premiership's most famous player can casually hang around the 6yrd box totally unmarked.

It concerns me that we still rely on a few players to get us over the line in every game.

Lloris was safe enough

Doherty is not a conventional full back
Reguilion had a mixed game. The assist I think masked a pretty lacklustre display.
Dier was dominant when needed but I just feel he has a brain fart in him.
Toby I thought was good today. I had him as my MOTM thought he defended well and safely and pinged a great ball out wide for Bales goal.

PEH reads the game exceptionally well and intercepts a lot. Worrying that Winks and a Sissoko are our alternative midfield combo. Neither of them are good enough to partner him meaning he has to work harder.
Sissoko has athleticism but is not a central midfielder.
N’Dombele hardly got the ball as he was too far forward. Would like to see him further back to play more deep lying. I think Jose should try Lo Celso at the top and N’Dombele alongside PEH.

Son was quiet today
Kane dropped so deep at times
Lamela makes more of an impact for me as a substitute.

Davies was meh.
Lo Celso added some aggression/press
Bale scored but it is so difficult to figure out what Bale we are getting. He is not going to work hard for the team which makes me question how he fits with a Mourinho team.

Overall was happy we won, but disappointed that we cannot dominate a team like Brighton in midfield. They had so much space in the middle of the park due to a lack of a team press it was embarrassing. For me we need to be looking to get a midfielder in who can help control the middle with PEH.

Gotta be the HOJ !!!! He has become so vital to us, both in general and the setup by jose, everything about him oozes team player, hard work, brains, attitude and application

Toby's ball to reggy for the bale goal, WOW deserves a huge round of applause for that, superb in every way, as important as bale heading the ball in the goal

Sissoko did decent again in what he needed to to, tracking back, clearing lines and helping on the DEF side

Harry seems to drop back to much and loiter in midfield now, if done at certain times its a great ploy, also it affects whoever the no10 behind is, it didnt help Tanguy (Tanguy couldnt get into the game today partly down to him, brighton and harry dropping back so much really didnt help)

Doherty is starting to annoy/frustrate me, i understand he limited in his DEF side which is not ideal, but he doesnt seem to offer anything in attack to, hopefully its just bad form or still settling in nothing more

As soon as we scored that rather fortuitously awarded penalty we switched to trying to stop Brighton from scoring, conceding position and not really trying to score a second.

A bit like Matic under José at Chelsea (one of the best players in the league at the time imo), he loves 1 or 2 of those ultra reliable players in midfield.

Seems to be a tactic that brings risk. I can understand it if it were near the end, but an hour left and we should be looking to kill the game off.

Hojbjerg man of the match by a country mile.

I'm really unsure of Sissoko role when paired with PEH. I think GLC can add more than Sissoko. For me it's either Sissoko or PEH, otherwise we kind of lose a player as they both doing the same thing and PEH seems to get there first

I didn’t think Sissoko was that bad. Offensively he offers us little because even though he takes us up the pitch, he can’t do anything with the ball. But when we were under the cosh he was usually there, sweeping up and clearing. Need his energy when we’re not playing well. Not saying he was brilliant but certainly not as bad as some are making him out to be.

Hojbjerg MOTM though. Toby 2nd. I think we’ve found our CB duo too.

Lloris was fine, little to deal with apart from one awkward cross which he admittedly fumbled, and quick shifting of his weight to stop himself carrying the ball over the line. Nothing he could do about the goal.

Doherty won his aerial duels, didn’t have much opportunity to attack, was not beaten down his side but was lucky not to concede a penalty from a silly pull.

Dier headed out everything that came at him, and calmly dealt with the little that came his way.

Tony snuffed out danger the few times he had to but was generally interested.

Reguilón’s cross for the winner was beautiful and he was a constant threat to their defence, but he didn’t have it all his way with Lamptey and was done on the Brighton goal.

Sissoko out of possession played well, getting to most loose marks balls first and depriving Brighton of space, but on the Bath was a big part of why we struggled to get the ball into our attackers.

Højbjerg won all his tackles, passed the ball well and was our most involved player outside of the backline. Should’ve had a free kick in the build up for the equaliser.

Lamela was involved and had some nice moments, great play to hit the post, was was uncharacteristically lacking in his usual intensity.

Ndombele took a silly yellow early on and was bypassed by much of the match as a result, while I felt he’d have been better off playing deeper as he just want seeing enough of the ball to impact the game.

Son was subdued, he never really got into the match and when he did nothing really came off.

Kane took his penalty well, and a clever free kick to Son, but I think went overboard with his dropping deep as Brighton went really giving us space to explore in behind anyway. Held the ball high up well in the closing stages.

Lo Celso improved us, he brought more tenacity off the ball and more resilience on it. Good pressing.

Bale was born to play for Spurs. Lovely header (unmarked admittedly) and without the ball he may not have been charging around but he was keeping formation to block off channels and getting back to block a couple of crosses.

Davies helped shore things up.

Spot on OP.

Almost every team we play against seem to know how to play football better than us. They play on the ground with nice buildups while we go long, high and hope almost every time. Even weaker teams like brighton and burnley. Its really cracking my head why we cant play more on the ground.

Having said that, we're 2nd despite being outplayed for almost all the matches, so ill take it. But this cannot go on, because better teams will rape us.

Hojbjerg my choice today. Was everywhere.

Son was utterly poor.
Disagree. We do try. But our players are too static. They don’t move with and without the ball. They’re sloppy and slow far too often.

Better question is why...?

PEH mom

Jose left his changes too late, and shouldnit have put either Kane nor Son on in Belgium- they were sapped. Don’t want either even on the plane toBulgaria

Brighton play nice football but have no cutting edge. Give them Kane and Son and we wouldn’t have had a sniff in the game. But we do have some world class finishers so get to win games. PEH ... so didn’t need to spell the name ... shaded MOTM for me
