We should be holding out for a little more imo.. He has scored goals for us and thats what Sunderland want him for so why would we take a loss on him (ofcourse there is a good chance we haven't paid alot of the add ons to Charlton so we will actually be making a profit on that £14 million)

According to David Matzdorf what we actually paid was £13m in three instalments, with an additional £3.5m in add-ons—of which we've forked out £0.5m for the CC win. If he's right, £14m represents a modest profit on the deal.

Only if he reaches the addons at Sunderland ;-)

I've never seen DM's original post on this so I don't have any opinions one way on the other on the accuracy of that £13m + potential £3.5m, but I do remember that at the time we signed Bent the Charlton official website stated explicitly that the deal was £15m (in 3 instalments) + £1.5m in potential add-ons. Not saying that that would be 100% gospel truth either, but it certainly is a source that has to be given a good deal of weight in the mystery of what we actually paid for Bent.

That's what I remember too, but David seemed convinced and he's not the sort of bloke to post a load of tosh. Whatever, it's not really worth debating—we've either made a small profit or a small loss. £1m isn't that much when you say it quick.

Darren's latest tweet:

Quote:
Just seen crouchy at the training ground wish him all the best. As for me Medical at sunderland tomorrow. Can't wait to get started

Quick question! Is DB really allowed to post these types of comments on Twitter!?

Surely this type of information is essentially confidential, until both clubs have reached an agreement!!

I think both clubs have reached an agreement, hence Bent going to Sunderland yesterday for talks, Redknapp saying he now has 4 strikers and wishing Bent luck at Sunderland.

It's all done, subject to medical.

Bent saying he has his medical tomorow means it's all pretty much done.
How things change in one year, this time last year Bent couldn't stop scoring in our pre-season campaign, people had their hopes up, some were saying Bent could do a Clive Allen and scores 49 goals in the upcoming season. Sadly it didn't happen.

Which Dazza all the best at Sunderland.

That was never going to happen because it just doesn't in the Prem. I'm confident that had he not got injured for the last 5 or so games he'd have hit 20 goals for us.

Well i think people were hoping for like 25-30 goals in the Premiership and 15-20 goal in other competions.

Well if its true and its all done and dusted then i like many of you will be sad to see him go!!

Quite honestly, he was never really given an out and out chance with us.

He basically had to wait til a player got injured before he saw himself as a first choice starter - plus when Keano and Berbatoss moved on, he must've been thinking his chance had finally come, but even then he was demoted once more!!

Its a real shame it disn't work out, for whatever reason, whether it was our way of playing, his attitude, his confidence or even team morale in general - all i know is that he could've scored a shedload of goals had things been different.

Ah well, thanks for everything, take care DB, and good luck!!

When you listen to the interview with Mr. Redknapp at Sky Sports, he says. We have 4 good strikers - Crouch, Keane, Defoe and Pav. Did you hear that. Bent was not mentioned. He is probably off soon, then.....

21.21 It's all go all of a sudden. Sky Sports News sources also understand that Sunderland's negotiations with Tottenham striker Darren Bent are at an advanced stage.

If Villa and Hull have "matched the £14m bid" of Sunderland, why would Levy wish to consider which bid to accept, other than if he feels selling Bent to one particular club would be detrimental to our fortunes?

Yes but that patient was later re-aprehended and taken back to the institution from which he escaped.

The rest of us made allowances for the4 fact that they were PRE SEASON FRIENDLIES against fuckers who didn't really give a shit because they were PRE SEASON FRIENDLIES.
