This forum is genuinely in need of some weeding out, some of the threads i've seen lately do not promote discussion or anything of the sort, they are merely people venting which I think is absurd baring in mind we havent even played with our strongest 11 even once this season yet. If you want to vent then you need to use Facebook, Twitter or some other platform, a forum is exactly that, a forum, a place for discussion. It's always worse when transfer windows are open but this is the worst i've known it to be in my time as a member here, and it actively discourages me from discussing anything as I genuinely have to question the sanity of some of the comments I see here and in other places too

edit: to be clear not directed at the OP, but just commenting on the criticism of certain players and other things like that :)

cant agree more with this

What I like is how good his close control is for someone his size and how instead of beating his man with pace, yesterday on particular, he was able to win a higher ball and flick it on with his head to run onto

Tbh, he's got more pace than I was expecting, having read some of the posts in the Chadli thread. Don't think he's got that instant burst but can seem to beat players and has got some silkies in his bag.

So far, so good.
It's early days, he didn't cost the earth and he's looking ok. Time will tell.

Stupid fucking thread though and some stupid fucking comments on here. Still, the school holidays must be finishing this week eh?

I watched Chadli before he joined us and have access to some pretty detailed analytics. Personally, I'm not his biggest fan. I think he's good cover but he lacks creativity and end-product. Basically a larger, more physical Aaron Lennon with less pace.

If he lacked those abilities in the Eredivisie, I was worried how his skills would translate to the Premier League.

I think he's raw and he provides good cover, but I think we need more creativity in our top XI.

Saw him at Twente before he joined us - good player, for someone like Villa - we need better than that at Right Mid. (edit. I meant LEFT ;) )
His last ball isn't good enough.

Wow, he is 21 and hasn't had a full season yet. I don't expect him to be a starter for us all season but he's done quite well so far and showed some nice touches. I actually think he'll develop into a more central player, maybe even a striker. He's strong, has very good feet and always seems to what to engineer space for a shot. He just needs time to develop and I think he'll get it now we've brought in more attacking talent.

He is 24 not 21. I think he just needs to get use to the pace of the EPL.

I don't understand the abuse that he has got so far, well I do understand it because there are plonkers around that expect him to be a carbon copy of Bale. But he has shown glimpses of flair and trickery so far that fills me with hope of how he will adapt to the wide forward role. He's good on the ball, interacts with others well, good in the air and has a great work ethic. Given the right support from those around him I think he can be a good addition to the side once he, and they, settle.

Oops, yeh he is. Regardless, he still looks a talent and I still think he'll be better through the middle. It's like people expected him to come into the team and be Bale mk II.

I think he will eventually make it on the Left. I think we have too many good young players in the middle (Holtby & Eriksen) for him to stake a claim there.

I think with the new formation people just need to adjust what the think of when they think of the left handside. We are too uses to speedsters down the wings but we are moving towards intelligent running off the ball, good first time touches/passing and finishing. Once he has adapted to the pace of the EPL and our team has adapted to the new style of play, we will start to see the best of him.

I also think he is just trying to keep it basic whilst he adapts and once the basics are there, he will start to take risks more.

I like him and can see him developing into a very decent player for us.
I think his first touch is excellent and his chest control is as good as any I have seen.
He is strong and pretty quick.
I think he is easing himself into the team and was probably a bit overwhelmed on Sunday.
This league is a step up in intensity for him but given time I reckon he will be fine.

Its funny because him and walker have been our 2 best players so far this season, yet they are the scapegoats along with rose

Lamela will for sure be n automatic selection leaving Lennon, Chadli and Townsend fighting for 1 spot . They all have pros and cons. Too early to choose 1 from those 3.

Anyone who thinks footballers don't look through club forums is naive. Can you imagine just joining a club and seeing a thread like this about you??

bearing in mind there are three cup compeitions as well as the league we will be focusing on - we need a good squad of players - which I think he fits into.
will he be a world beater for us, who knows, but looks like he will develop into a useful player for us, my opinion.
will be able to do a job comfortably against most - maybe wont have it all his way against the established top 4,5,6 teams in League - but the rest I expect him to be able to do well against.
needs to time to gel with the rest of the team.

The players if they read the forums have to understand that there are some fans who with the best will in the world are simply not too bright. It's that time of year where they all come out of the woodwork but a few wins and most of them will go back into hiding untill god forbid, a player makes a mistake. I think this season I'm just going to block every one of them I come across.

It's one thing having a different opinion, that's fine by me. It's the petty cry babies that I'm looking to put on ignore.

He's had a couple of pre-season games, a war against Palace, one game against Swansea then another war against Arsenal. I'm not blown away by him and I worry he isn't fast enough and his decision making isn't quick enough but similarly Paulinho's decision making has been suspect and Soldado's been looking lonely and vulnerable. Technically he seems good enough and maybe LW just isn't his position. All in all I'll give him time to bed in and come up to speed.

People also really need to understand than new players sometimes go through a period of trying too hard, not relaxing and not being on the same wavelength as the team. He's clearly rated so I'll reserve judgement for now.

listening to the spurs show and a couple of them think he is 'rubbish' 'plays like he is decapitated, useless'

When we had that thread about who the scapegoat might be I predictated this fella, because his biggest problem is that he is occuyping the position of Bale and he doesn't have any of the ability of what is one of the top 10 players in the world. so he is always going to look poor in comparison

still I see Hulk in him, I fancy him to get 10 league goals this season.
