He's an absolute unit that's for sure, but he seems to have great close control and technical ability for a guy his size.

Very early days, but I'd like to see him get down to the line a bit more instead of cutting in on his right foot - we all saw what he can do when he crossed with his left against Tblisi = perfect ammunition for Soldado!

How anyone can write him off at this stage however, is completely beyond me.

Far too premature to be analysing in any great depth. This thread would be better started at least half way through the season, January time etc.

Its laughable that some people are writing him off already - that's the modern day fan for you these days.

should've signed bernard.

Although i think we need to revisit this thread come January once Chadli has actually had some time to settle and adjust as it is far to soon to know ether way about him. At the moment i am all for giving him the benefit of the doubt as we really dont have many options on the left, Lennon just cant play that role and Eriksen is better middle of the park. Judging him now is going to do nothing. I completely agree tho, that we should have got Bernard for the left, would have been a fantastic signing to complete our midfield three.

looks a talented lad, good skills -need to see more of him but do worry about his ability to deliver end product though.
Strikes me as very similar to Dembele in this respect

It's early days but he looks more than useful. For £7m, I'm sure he'll turn out to be a bargain. Whether he'll nail down a first team place I don't know, but I hope he does. Good business.

it's a shame he just didnt stop in brazil a bit longer instead of accepting shaktars money. He is gonna hate it over there eventually, and I'm sure once we knew for sure Bale was off once his Buttock pain kicked in we would have bid enough money that would have been accepted

Nothing special, a squad player at best, just hope he doesn't become a managers favourite, picked regardless, as I gave the feeling he will, Lennon is different class to him and could easily play the cutting in role from the left he does! There's no comparison in my book, the worst of our buys by a mile.

Exactly, the typical fan that thinks they know best, who have probably only ever played for their works annual six a side tournament. Too many wannabe football wannabes and not enough proper fans these days.

Lennon has no drive or bravery, he is too comfortable to cut inside from the left and do anything meaningful

Bumping this to get thoughts on the guy a month later.

Has obviously been injured, which has made it hard for him.

For me, he needs to look towards the goals more rather than this intricate build-up play on the half way line.

Use that strength for something.

He's taking the safe option quite a lot so far, pass it back to the fullback, or a simple ball around the edge of the box. That could mean he's not as naturally confident as someone like Eriksen, who's come in and stamped his quality on the team straight away, and looks to play incisively straight away. To me, if he's going to be a success it will be modelling his game on someone like Pires, who was a similar sort of player coming in from wide. Not express pace, big and upright, but nice touch and vision. Most importantly, getting into the box and scoring goals, plenty of them.

I think it's still way too early. Personally I would give him a season and see where he is next season but that is a bit too long a timeframe for most people and too long for what we want Spurs to achieve this season. Might be worth coming back to seeing where he is in terms of development around March to get a better idea. That should hopefully be enough time to settle into a new country, new league and new team and to give an idea of what he can do and what he will be able to do a little later on.

He seemed to play on the right when he came on against Chelsea and didn't seem too comfortable. I think playing on the left and tucking in would be the best option for him. He doesn't seem to have the most electric pace of some but he isn't slow (he seems to have decent speed and is at least just as fast as players like Mata and Milner who play in similar positions for teams who are in the Champions League places) and he looks rather athletic so I don't see any problems with him taking on defenders, being strong enough to handle challenges and playing lots of games over a season.

I don't think we are short on attacking midfield players so even if he doesn't hit the ground running I don't think it's a position the team need to address straight away.

I still think it's too early but I would like to see how his crossing and passing (including things like throw balls and passing into spaces for attackers like Soldado to get into) is a bit more. Also the guy is 24 and still has a year or two before he starts hitting his peak.

so can only ex professionals offer an opinion on a fans forum then? that's a bit harsh isn't it.
simple fact is up til now Chadli has done nothing to excite us and so some people will obviously wonder if he is the real deal.
over to you chadders old chap.

i like what i have seen so far of chadli but he will need a run of games a lot like other players so he can gel better and get into the flow of the play more, also when he plays he needs that overlapping left back as he is a right footed left winger and likes to cut in but if anyone says that is all he does then they haven't watched enough of him before as he can cross with his left very well and does go up the wing.

I was glad to see him score against tromso as well which i think was also with his left foot and was from the outside and not cutting in.

Let me get this right......
Yesterday the Spanish press were having a go about Bale not being up to scratch and effectively being a waste of money, having only made 3 appearances, and the majority of people here were defending Bale (quite rightly).
Chadli has barely appeared for us and we have people here say he's crap etc.

Something doesn't make sense.........

Didn't realise you had to be a professional footballer to have any knowledge about the game. Someone better tell AVB and Mourinho.

Fella scored something like 19 goals last season as a wide forward. From what I've seen of him he's an upgrade, in an attacking sense, on players like Lennon and Dempsey. He sees more ball and he also seems to work quite hard off the ball defensively to and helps his full back. For 7m I've been pretty happy with what I've seen so far.

I like him, but I think people expect him to be Bale or a dynamic skilful player who jinks down the wing. He isn't from what I have seen that type of player. Seems to be much more about directness and power with him. He offers a different style to Lennon and Townsend which we will see as the season goes on.

People talking about him and Soldado not making the grade are just crazy. We have played a few pointless friendlies and 6 league games. This is the problem now. People's expectations are so high it is ridiculous.
