Was impressed with how many headers he won yesterday and his strength.

He's a slower Downing.

Quick feet, good control, works hard and looks comfortable on either foot. He will need time to adapt to the pace and tempo of English football, and to our style of play. I think he'll link up nicely with a ballplaying midfielder like Eriksen or Holtby.

I would imagine Townsend could jump ahead of him in the pecking order early on while Lamela takes up the right wing. We've got good options out wide. I would certainly rather have Chadli on the left than a Sigurdsson, Holtby or Dempsey out of position on that side.
Have you seen Townsend on the left?

He is average at best there, he is quick, but doesn't have the power/strength to go past a Right Back on the outside.
On the right he has the advantage that he can commit the defender with a few shimmy's who doesn't know which way he's going to go but on the left, he's not comfortable on his right side to come inside so fullback's just show him to the line.
Therefore he just becomes like Lennon on the other side; a straight line up and down winger, which is dreadful for a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1

He hasn't played on the left for a while but he is a different player now, much improved overall. Still a lot of work to be done but I think he would do well on the left with a run of games there.

Frankly I don't expect any of the newer players to perform spectacularly until the whole team starts to gel. That's when the newer players will perform, when they start to understand how their team mates are going react and run to.

Unless they are worldies with stunning pace (like the B word :( ) or crazy skills i don't like left footed wingers on the left and right footed wingers on the right.
Limits your creativity to crosses at worst and cut/pull backs at best, and to me a cross is just a hopeful pass, plus it's heavily reliant on the two wingers playing well rather than creating as a team.
In our system fullbacks should be crossing WF's should be creating chances with passes and movement.

Also he (Andros) did play out on the left for 30 minutes or so in one of our last games (maybe Tiblisi Away?) and never beat his man once on the outside (despite plenty of attempts) he only got a few corners.

I don't know how someone can watch Chadli and think he doesn't have ability. He needs to take more risks and assert himself on games more. This will come with time. He has played 3 PL games for the club and (in spite of what some have claimed) has done well in 2 of them.

I have to say, as a new member this is a wonderful forum, but the amount of kneejerk slagging of our players is astonishing compared to any other site I frequent. A lot of people have turned on Chadli, but some people have even turned on Soldado. I've even seen a few posts where suddenly Lamela is a meh signing.

We lost a singular game at a ground where we've only won once. There are 35 more of them. Chill.

I thought he played well first half, his control surprised me, players were booting the ball at him and he controlled it well and took his man on pretty easily. I think with more movement in the box he may have had some luck.

Second half wasn't his best, the freekicks and blasting over may have pissed people off a bit. I won't judge until he's had more games under his belt

Give the boy a chance. Bale was hardly worth 100million when he was first in the team.

I'm not sold on him yet.

Seems predictable and lacks pace! Think he would actually be better as a Atracking mid through the middle or as a striker
