Linked with Oliver Burke. Wouldn’t say no as a punt tbh at one point he looked superb at forest and was likened to bale. Can’t be that old 22 maybe about the age bale came good. Who knows what poch could do there’s obviously something there.
All paid for with operating cash flow and debt. All capital assets that fatten up the club for sale.
Everyone points to the training centre. It has been up and running for several years now. Do Spurs have the best youth players ? No. Which clubs do ? Chelsea and Man City. Why ? Because even at youth level money - wages, signing on fees - talks and spending on bricks and mortar doesn’t.
I continue to be amazed at just how many fans are taken in by the ENIC con trick, spending our money on property to enable them to sell the club while spending none of our money on improving the team/squad. Lots of promises of jam tomorrow to offset the pain today when in fact the jam won’t be for us the fans it will be for them as shareholders.
Wake up Spurs fans we are being totally ripped off by ENIC and told to thank them for it. If you can’t see that after the last transfer window then I despair.
For anyone questioning how this post belongs in this thread just consider whether anyone seriously thinks ENIC will release any funds for transfers in January.

Burke would be another opportunity purchase. Baggies don't want him, so are touting him around. He's played 14 mins of Championship footie.Linked with Oliver Burke. It has to be a confidence thing. He’s actually 21. You just can’t go from being that good to complete shit in the space of 2 years at 21. Think he went for £10m to Leipzig at 19. Just a question if you can re build him.

A shame really as has been mentioned looked a talent at Forest. He needs to be played regular to help build up his confidence and get him to love playing football again, the trouble is his position we are well covered in, so wouldn’t get the game time needed to help build either up again.
The 2 positions we need desperately are CM and LB, and even possibly a DM pending Wanyama. We seriously need to get rid of the deadwood though, because we all know Levy won’t pay an over inflated squad, if the dross don’t go, we won’t sign diddly squat. If don’t buy anyone I don’t see us getting CL or keeping Poch, and it will be Levy and ENIC’s fault.
The only way those 3 or 4 go is taking a hit, and we know he is too stubborn to do that, so I don’t expect anyone in, in January
Thanks for this.
Clearly Rabiot should be someone that we need to be looking strongly at. We've been linked plenty of times before and to get him on a free would be a helluva move.
I thought I read somewhere that Shaw had been extended for another year but maybe that's not true. Would love for us to bring him and sell Davies.
I've always liked Brahimi but not sure he's good enough and doesn't fit our transfer strategy, e.g. buy young etc. Equally Herrera is a good, strong box to box CM that could provide some experienced depth.
I would definitely take a flier on Sturridge if LFC don't retain him. He's shown he's still got talent and would be a brilliant rotation option for Kane.
Brahim Diaz was being talked about as the next big talent at City along with Foden. My city mate seemed to suggest that Diaz was the better player but Foden appears to have moved ahead of him in Pep's eyes at least. Would be worth a look.
Declan Rice would fit perfectly into our strategy and looks a very good player.
Lastly I would look at Areola but that's cos I'm not a huge fan of Lloris and I love tits.
Lost all his confidence at Leipzig and WBA. Confidence to express yourself is such a massive thing for a young player, and in many cases rock solid confidence is the difference between PL players and those who drift down the leagues.Bloody hell, he's only had 1 sub appearance in the championship this year, what has happened to him?
Rabiot seems to be the one that would make difference to our team. I think you are right on his contract expectations but I wonder whether we could be financially attractive to him by offering, say £150K a week and a large signing on fee? You obviously don’t want to break the wage structure and we wouldn’t bat an eyelid paying another club £20-30m for the transfer (not saying you’d pay that all to Rabiot but you get the idea).Thanks. We know buying in Jan is difficult.
Best ways of buying on Jan is buying talented players not getting game time and club happy to sell, paying way over the odds or players with little left on their contract.
The first is rare with the quality we are looking for.
The second is not usually our way and when we do it seems out of desperation rather than really wanting the player.
So players with short time on their contract is our best option.
If Poch thinks he can get the best from Shaw then he should be considered.
The various bits I have read about Rabiot suggest he is very talented but will ask for a huge contract making him unlikely.
Rice is a possibility I guess, can’t say I know much about him but have read some positives.
Can’t say the others are of much interest.
Bloody hell, Lighty, have you been abducted by aliens, mate!!! Just last night you were battering anyone who said exactly what you've just said:A shame really as has been mentioned looked a talent at Forest. the trouble is everytime someone suggest a player, the same old moaners pipe up with we won't buy anyone because of "ENIC". pretty boring and to then accuse those that don't think we can buy trophies, as not being "TRUE FANS" @[email protected] are taking the piss

I totally agree with you (for the first time ever, I think!). Have you seen anything of De Jong or Ndombele, Lighty? I'm not optimistic in the least that we'll sign either, but I think they're exactly the calibre of young midfielder we should be looking at.
I’m not sure. It always depends on injuries and luck of course. But Sancho is big and rapid - this usually means managers are more likely to take a chance, than on smaller players who also aren’t very pacey, like KWP or Edwards. Onomah is an outlier, because he looks very strong these days, but he doesn’t always use it cleverly. Some people mentioning Sancho. He would not have got game time if he came here, i.e. KWP, Onomah, Edwards.
