Which positions do we actually need to improve in? We have such great strength in depth. I’d say:
1st team LB with more pace
CM
Better back up ST than Llorente

Then we are pretty much there aside from buying a Messi/Ronaldo/Mbappe etc I’d not see how we could realistically easily then improve our 1st XI or squad if we added these 3 positions.

If we sell Rose I would throw it at another LB. However we lose a HG player in Rose so we would need to be seriously upgrading if we do sell. Chilwell would be perfect but his price would be inflated now.

CM to replace Dembele and Llorente would be perfect but will most likely be next summer!

Cant see us dipping into the market for a LB in January. Might be something to visit in the summer.

Not sure where else to put this, but glad we missed out on Kovacic. Seen a lot of Chelsea fans say he has been underwhelming this season and yesterday he looked out of his depth. Maybe he needs time to get to grips with the Prem, I don't know, but so far he's been average at best and I think we should be looking at better.

We couldn’t do better than Kovacic. He’s a class act that will get better the more he plays.

We have seen players take a long time to settle into the Prem or a new team on numerous occasions so don't see why we should write off Kovacic after less than half a season.

He's only been at chelsea a couple of months. Some players need time to adapt. Son wasn't very good on his first season

interesting if we think that by next summer: dembele, Vorm, Fernando will certainly be off the books and almost certainly GKN, Janssen and a few of our loanees. That frees up a lot of wages for pay increases etc.

Sessegnon (still think his future is at left back) or chilwell would be ideal.

Chillwell seems unobtainable at the moment now sadly, as after years of hype he’s finally cemented his place in Leicester’s first team, just signing a new contract and seems really happy there. :-(

Whenever I see his name, I always remember that period on here when we were really hyping him (some seriously, some bantz) and someone actually has him as their username as a joke (at least I think it was a joke!) ???

I was speaking to an Inter fan a few weeks ago who told me that he wasn't very good, which I found strange as he got his move to Madrid of the back of his time there. I know that having Kroos & Modric ahead of you is a pretty large obstacle but I wonder if we have never been interested due to mentality.

That rabona was ridiculous and just showed that he either wasn't in the right frame of mind or appreciative of the situation. I also have reservations about him defensively and I wouldn't be surprised if part of him wishes he was still in Madrid and not in England. Basically, would Poch have taken a look at him and thought he didn't have the right qualities mentally?

Supposedly Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini has a release clause 26 mil that will become active at the end of this season. If hat is the case we should be all over him, would be perfect for our midfield. Exactly what we need.

That sounds of bitterness by the inter fan as he was superb for them

The vast improvement in Sissoko and the continued evolution of Winks have lessened the pressure to bring in a CM as one of those with Dier or Wanyama will be good enough more often than not, but I’d still like to see something more in CM. Dembele is quickly becoming obsolete due to the form of others as well as his dwindling fitness, performance level and, of course, contract. If there is someone good enough to bring in, then we absolutely should, someone who could play with any of our other midfielders and complement them. Someone in the Carrick mould would be ideal.

Write Dembele off at your peril. A couple of seasons back people were saying exactly this with his hip problem and he came back in full beast mode. I'd be happy for him to get a big pay day somewhere abroad if that's what he wants though.
