Not been that impressed with Davies. As we currently stand, he does not appear to have the desired quality to make the left back position his now or in the distant future.

He's 21 and actually had a period mid-season where he was firmly first choice. Don't you think it is a little early to be writing him off?

Rose is our best left back, and this season probably one of PLs best left backs. Feels weird to make such a statement, but it's true...

I'll never get peoples obsession with "pace" over every other attribute.

Someone in another thread rightly said the 2 best RB's in the league are Ivanovic and Zabaleta. Neither are quick but they are intelligent, position themselves well and are difficult to get past.

Plus Charlie is still the best one we have had in the last 10 years

I've been pretty scathing towards Rose in the past, but for me he has really upped his game in the last few months, hope we see more of the same from him.

I like attributes from both.

Was a Rose hater but he has been much better this season so I apologise for being such a **** to him. He has been the better of the two this season

I do like Davies albeit he is a bit more careful when choosing his moments to go forward. I don't think this is a bad thing.

Both have been exposed but I do think that it is as a result of a couple of things

1. The two central midfielders not covering
2. The left sided midfielder not tracking back.

Ultimately if you want your full backs to provide width and go forward then someone has to cover. I don't think we have that player at the moment.

Where is the option for Tramezanni?! He was so good he deserves to be in every poll along with the goat.

Rose has been excellent this season, but now and again he's still prone to an error, mistake against Chelsea and Arsenal at home spring to mind and a game earlier on in the season letting the ball bounce, but he has a great engine getting back and forwards so much in the game, definitely gives us more options going forwards.

Ben Davies seems neat and I think he's a decent defender, but you can tell he doesn't trust himself bombing it forwards

We do need a new 1st choice RB and LB. No real way around it.

FBs are crucial for us.

We need centre backs more so imo. They make more errors than our full backs, whom you have to remember are asked to do quite a lot in the system we play.

He won't get quicker as he gets older - it's a pretty essential component for a full back in a team that relies on its full backs getting forward. We bought Yedlin for the sole reason and also decided to convert Rose from a winger to a full back because of his pace.

Why not?

Apparently Kane did.

If their performances had been reversed this season there would be a major love in for Davies. Rose has to go above and beyond by consistently performing well this season just to get any recognition because of a poor injury hit season in a tactically inept Spurs side last year.

People rave about Vertonghen but is he any less mistake prone than Rose? It's close.

Much like the rest of the squad then? Leftback is pretty much the least of our problems.

I think the full back positions are probably amongst the most important to get this system firing. They provide the only real width in attack and defence. I like Davies and Rose, but think they both need to provide more defensively. At the moment, Rose would be my first choice as he has put in some really good performances. The addition of Davies seems to have pushed him on, lets not forget Davies is 21 so still has bags of time to up his game. Over on the right, Walker needs pushing for his spot too.
