he has a great point on the England call ups.

I hope Townsend is one that can stay around in that set up and can now take a step up with us.

Not sure if its just the way AVB said it, but it sounds like he said the club should punish him in some way

"I have given my opinion and i have left the club to act upon it. If they want to act or not its up to them"

That bit reminded me a bit of Man on fire i'm a Tottenham professional. He just was not going to give the media the bait they seek that's all.I think he's great tbh the way he has handled everything thus far.Though I admit I missed some parts when they cut away to training ground clips lot's of signs of great camaraderie in amongst the interview.Worth watching imo, namely as mentioned before like a dance off between Capoue and Sandro.Like the way Dembele muzzled Townsend for a bubble, for opposing fan's I would be quite intimidated every time the cam moved there was power, height and pace.Townsend himself might be shorter but he's stocky.Think Carroll will be very well protected imo anyway like I say the vid well worth watching for the various bit's of banter.

AVB may not say it explicitly but he definitely sounds disappointed in that interview.

Yeah, what he said was spot on. We give out England caps willy nilly and its stupid. Way to premature and from what AVB was getting at can be demoralizing when you don't get a recall.

He looked sad.:(

If I ever meet Gareth Bale, he's getting a swift and forceful kick in the ankle for making AVB look sad.

About 12 mins in I think. Think he meant I'm not a spurs fan from outside the club as he was being hassled by a journo on what fans think of the Bale saga. ;)

Yea I think the whole tone of the interview allows for that remark. Let's hope some shiny new signings cheer him up.

I do wish the club will give the journo a mike so we can hear whatever dumb - or sensible, rare I know - questions were being asked.

I think he's chuffed to bits with the club tbh. Massively disappointed not only with GB, but the Willian sitch but he's not unhappy with THFC. Just pist off a bit and not going to get involved in pointless hypotheticals with the meeja.

We've been looking to back him to the hilt and have done so far. Now we need to be working on a new contract in the next few weeks for him.

I can see why avb is pissed off re Townsend. He will be backup for us, but now he has got in the squad he will be demanding first team footy to make the World Cup. We may fucking lose him now if we seal lamela.

Also, it unsettles Lennon, who is vying for a place with Townsend in both teams, and will see his chances damaged for both.

I think it shows up Bale's temperament/character a bit. Whether we like them or not, Suarez and Rooney have shown some balls, turned up and fronted things out. Bale in comparison has run away and hid.

Couldn't agree more. You could argue he's been badly advised or the Club were behind such an approach anyway - keep the circus away etc.

But in the end not turning up for training has taken it too far. To me Rooney has conducted himself very well, his attitude and professionalism even though he has unresolved issues with United behind the scenes has been nothing short of exemplary.

Pity the press wouldn't focus and commend Rooney on that more, rather than lap up the antics by Bale and his advisors. But the decent thing doesn't sell as many papers.
