Think it's a case of no-one better for free. Pretty sure harry would rather we take james.

Also, just noticed this on skysports - "I personally had nothing to do with the sale of Kaboul," said Jacob... does that mean pompey believe kaboul has already been sold to us? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11674_5891341,00.html

i didn't know it was that far down the line.

Exactly. If Gomes had've gone off on Tuesday, BEN ALNWICK would have been the replacement.

Unfortunately some people are bitter today as Harry has let everyone's favourite GDS go on loan.

Don't bring your douche off with Gibbs from the GDS thread here. Nobody mentioned him. Just you.

Dude. When have ever NOT been about the cheap comment. It's all I'm good for. When you start taking me that serious about anything other than the Bundesliga, you are getting your knickers in a twist. I will always go for the snide comment.

Fair enough, I've been pretty arsey in general today if I'm honest so there's probably a collection of posts from me today (moreso than usual) with little tolerance for anyone or anything.

I think you'll find that Porsmouth bankruptcy came about because, having been able to afford the players and wages Harry assigned to various signings, their owners personal finances went to pot and they could no longer foot the bill that they once were able to, and subsequent owners, long after our manager left, went in with the intention of turnings things around but they instead made things worse.

You don't like Harry or the signings he makes, fine, but his only job is to make a club reach certain goals within the limitations imposed on him, and by and large he's done that both with us (so far) and Portsmouth before.

Oh, and I reckon that if he hadn't brought in Defoe, Johnson, Crouch, Muntari, Diarra and Yakubu for as little as he did, they wouldn't have spun such a huge profit overall on that collection of players and right now they'd be in even bigger shit, if they actually existed anymore.
BBLG has summarised this situation accurately. The profits Harry made on players he bought in have been massive, about 60m. Some examples:

Diarra: 5m sold at 18m
Johnson: 4m sold at 18m
Muntari: 7m sold at 12.7m
Defoe: 9m sold at 15m

Begovic can't even play for another club this season (already played for 2 in Ipswich & Pompey)

Has anybody seen the Teamtalk story -interview with Peter Storrie regarding sale of Kaboul. It mentions a fee of possible £11 mill with 2 of that being owed to us already- so £9 mill figure???? I'm hoping we aren't stupid enough to pay that much..surely?

Oh so it's not just charity. And it's not just a freebie. We spent 11 million on a guy who failed once. Isn't that about the range of Kjaer?

loans dont count i don't think?

and as for £11m, i hope that's wrong. all i was told was they owe us £5m, not £2m, and therefore we're dealing with that by taking kaboul and begovic. sure we'll give them something, but i really hope it's not £6m.

I'm in favour of bring Kaboul in but not for more than a net spend of 4 or 5 million. 11 million would be insane and we could do far more with that kind of money.

This is stolen from SO via FTL

Graham Roberts on FTL saying we aren't paying them anything, simply wipes out the £3M they owe us

Corroborates Yidio.

Personally, i'd rather we sign Kaboul than risk Portsmouth going into administration and only getting a fraction, if anything at all, of whats owed to us.

in the short term we get decent cover at CB (and possibly a defensive midfielder) and if it does'nt work out we sell him on next year.

That article doesn't even mention the Sell on clause that we have, so i wouldn't trust that. There is no way Levy would pay £11M for Kaboul (unless Harry now controls the purse strings... Eek RUN AWAYYYY!!!)

I think a player can play for more than two teams, but cannot transfer to two different clubs in the same season. He was only on loan at Ipswich, so it doesnt count.

whether someone on ftl/so reported this i don't know since i don't use those forums. if someone over there has some decent contacts, then it wouldn't be a surprise if they're saying the same as me.

and if begovic cannot play for another club, then i don't know why we're signing him. levy is talking to both of them tonight, harry is in the channel islands at an event so is not present.

Like you say, this backs up what Yidio says. Makes me think even more that Levy is edgeing his bets like i mentioned in my previous post.

How does this deal work with the sell on clause we have regarding Kaboul?

Am i the only one who thought Kaboul was opretty darn good? He had the misfortune to play at our club when things weren't exactly running smoothly on or off the pitch. And he was only a young player learning his trade. Ive definately seen enough this season to suggest he is potentially an excellent CB.

Also, I do expect an annoucement soon Re: Ledders or Woody, probably the latter. Harry made it pretty clear its only replacements he is bringing in apart from a keeper.
