Oh dear... I really like Lamella, but for me this would be because Bale is going and that would make me very sad.

If Lamela comes Bale goes, can't see it any other way - oh and we shouldn't lose sight of the fact we still need a quality left back

We just don't know do we? We could sign him and keep Bale until next summer, or we we could sign him and let Bale go. It is anyones guess really.

IMO it makes most sense to sign Lamela now and keep hold of Gareth for at least another year. So Lamela and him can learn things from each other, but my opinion, yours, JJ or anyones else's doesn't really matter. As only Levy and Lewis have the power to make the decision.
Agreed.

Also, I've got a feeling DL/Lewis smells blood: manure are having an awful pre-season and look totally limp and I think he fancies our chances to get a top 3 and challenge for the title this season. By what's already transpired it would seem the gloves are well and truly - finally - off and we're properly going for it. Big time. Balls deep.

Hope you are correct, and it would be about time some might say.

Not for me. If we sign him, it could only mean Bale is going. Surely we couldn't have both? Hopefully it's just a contingency plan.
Good about Vlad though.

I don't think that is necessarily so. Maybe a year to bed in with Bale going next year is a possible scenario but I still think creative AM is an area where we need another player, and we do have interest in Sigurdsson.

My only wish for the rest of the window is to have players that want to play for the club.

We've done some good business and some say it's the Bale money, some say it's a loan from big Joe and some feel it's the extra revenue from TV deals.................I say Levy has finally found a manager he trusts with the money!

On top of four very shiny new signings the Goat is now uttering words like "Lamela"?

I'm not sure I can take so much good news during one window. I think I'm going to have a lie down. I'm not ready for my day.

Aren't we suppose to get a LB in as well? Perhaps that's what we want Vlad for. So including Holtby we've bought two CMs, two AMs, on striker and we're being linked, by the Goat, with another CB and AM, and to a LB by other ITK. We also have 1 AM in Townsend returning from loan, Rose returning from loan and Kaboul and Sandro returning from long term injury. That's potentially 9 'new' players and 4 more that were not involved at the end of last season. Really exciting, but are we not changing too much on a team that did very well last season?

This is looking more and more like a FM window :geek:

Not only that but despite Man City and Chelsea strengthening, they haven't made signings that make you think "there is no way we can compete with them". If the heavens align and we add Coentrao, Lamela and Chirches to this already extremely talented squad, we really do have a very good chance at winning it.

If lamela came in and Bale was to stay this year, that can really only mean lennon leaving cant it, as I dont see him having any runouts at all baring injury. What would lennon fetch in £. Must admit him along with walker are looking the weak links in teh 1st 11

I wouldn't bet on that. It makes a lot of sense to sign Bale's replacement this summer if we may let him leave next year as it keeps the prices low. It makes even more sense if we are willing to let Townsend leave as it would mean our wing options would be Bale, Lamela, Chadli, Lennon and Falque.

I'd like to believe that. And this summer Levy has shown he's gone a bit transfer mental, so it's more possible than I would have believed 2 months ago.

I reccon we wold be trying to recoup most of Lamela;s cost by selling Lennon.

Everyone is talking about IF Lamela comes now Bale goes now. This isn't a full gone conclusion. It doesn't necessarily mean Bale leaves this window. Bale is a guaranteed 80 million pounds in the next 12 months. Buying a replacement now before prices become inflated and extortionate is vital to being able to find a suitable replacement.

In fact, buying Bales replacement this season, even if he leaves next season is the single most sensible thing to do for both financial and footballing reasons.
