Can you give us a quick synopsis of him please m8?

Never seen him play.

I hate to say this, but incredibly Bale like. Fast, strong, 6'2, peach of a left foot. Plays on the right wing and often cuts in but works well in an inside forward role too. Some say Lamela is better at 20 than Bale was.

The only way I can see us buying Lamela and keeping Bale is by selling Little Aaron to offset some of the money. We've still got Andros as a wide player to cover. But there has been no ITK on Aaron going so I shall shut it.

Maybe the idea is bring in Lamela now. Let him adjust to the premier league and learn from for GB which gives a smooth transition when GB leaves next summer and also cover for injuries etc.............and insurance just in case RM find the cash on deadline day

This isn't up for debate really, Lamela is much better at 20 then Bale ever was at that age. This doesn't mean he will develop to be better than Bale or that he will improve at the rapid rate Bale did. Just that if given the choice between both 20 year olds with out any foresight into their future, you would pick Lamela every time.

This would be the way to do it and would be perfect, whether we do or not is another question.

Andros wants first team footy, and has said he is willing to move for it. He is more likely to go than Lennon. He will also command a decent price due to tearing it up at QPR.

If we get Vlad and Lamela in addition to Capoue, Soldado, Chadli and Paulinho I will be chuffed. Strong in the back, super strong in midfield and goals a-plenty with Bale, Soldado and Lamela. We'd be able to launch a real shot at the title with that squad and we'd have enough depth to challange for some silverware too, letting some of the younger lads have a go in the cups. If Verts gets back from injury and we get Kaboul and Sandro in shape we'd arguably have one of the best squads in the league. I'm excited enough about this season, but with Lamela and Chiriches in the team I simply cannot wait for the season to begin.

Truly exciting times!

If there was a bit of ITK I wanted to see this morning that was it. Really hope Lamela happens (and Vlad).

Not for me. If we sign him, it could only mean Bale is going. Surely we couldn't have both? Hopefully it's just a contingency plan.
Good about Vlad though.

This is true, Bale didn't exactly have the best start to his career, starting off as a left-back and growing into the role he has now, as well as spending large periods out of the squad waiting either for Benny to get injured or for HR to offload him to Nottingham Forest.

If Bale had been playing in the role he is now, regularly against top opposition from his late teens, he would probably be even more frightening than he already is.

And we would probably have lost him two years ago.

Maybe this could result in cashing in on Bale and replacing with a cheaper but potentially better option?

As regards Vlad are we going to have to wait to find if his club will make CL group stages?...could be a deadline Levy special?

This is all guess work. From my point of view, Bale has needed a fair bit of time to develop into the footballer he is. If we had tried to play him there earlier, it may have never happened for him.

The Goats info is very encouraging on the proviso that Bale is still retained but nevertheless, it sounds like our transfer business is far from done.

Also, if Lamela has another good season he'll be WAY out of our price range so it might be a case of now or never...

Aren't we suppose to get a LB in as well? Perhaps that's what we want Vlad for. So including Holtby we've bought two CMs, two AMs, on striker and we're being linked, by the Goat, with another CB and AM, and to a LB by other ITK. We also have 1 AM in Townsend returning from loan, Rose returning from loan and Kaboul and Sandro returning from long term injury. That's potentially 9 'new' players and 4 more that were not involved at the end of last season. Really exciting, but are we not changing too much on a team that did very well last season?

We just don't know do we? We could sign him and keep Bale until next summer, or we we could sign him and let Bale go. It is anyones guess really.

IMO it makes most sense to sign Lamela now and keep hold of Gareth for at least another year. So Lamela and him can learn things from each other, but my opinion, yours, JJ or anyones else's doesn't really matter. As only Levy and Lewis have the power to make the decision.

Lamela would be a stunning purchase.... but if anyone seriously believes we'd keep GB and Lamela haha... hmmm perhaps theres a way to fund it through the sale of Jake Livermore and Scotty Parker :)
