I think many of the player assessments offered in this thread are incredibly fatalistic. No doubt this is in no small part down to the incredibly poor run of form of late - there's no denying that and there are many legitimate worries about the squad, the coaching and on-field aspects in general.

However, some of what has been written about several players is, for me at least, greatly exaggerated and, again, fatalistic. We have a number of very good players who could benefit the first eleven of many, many clubs the world over and some thoroughly decent squad players too.

Yes, something needs to change to get everybody performing as we all know they can, or even better than they have before, and I'll definitely concede that with some it would probably be best for the team and the player to move on. Throwing as much as half of the first team squad under the bus however, and I suspect it would be an even greater proportion for some posters, is not a realistic or reasonable option.

Poch under pressure according to the Telegraph

https://t.co/J5hITc5yYI?amp=1

Love Poch and I wish he could turn it around but I've lost faith that he's capable of doing so.

This paragraph from the article was terribly depressing:

(Referring to the fact that there's no suitable interim manager within the club)

"That would enhance the prospects of an out-of-work manager, such as Max Allegri or Jose Mourinho, being approached. But waiting to the end of the season would widen Levy’s options and give him a more realistic chance of appointing Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe, RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann, or even England manager Gareth Southgate."

The fact that there are two multiple league winning managers on the market - at a time where the club should be taking that final step from coming close to winning titles to actually winning titles - and Levy would want to wait it out to hire another "project manager" is thoroughly disappointing. I can't see our top players like Kane & Son who are pushing upwards into their late 20s be willing to stick around for another five year project before we win trophies, especially after watching Pochettino's project seemingly crash and burn without tangible success to show for it.

I think JJ has been quite clear in his views that he’s massively pro Poch. He’s literally just said it when talking to Gards, so I think that will play a part.

Gards hearing the opposite is significant as he’s also pro Poch.

The only reason I think JJ isn’t on the money with this particular info is purely because it is completely unrealistic and illogical to suggest Poch isn’t significantly close to the sack. Our form and performances compared to what is and was expected of us makes Poch easily the biggest underperforming manager in the league and for the longest period. It’s been going on for ages now. There’s just no way Levy isn’t close to pulling the trigger. There are far too many red flags at Spurs performance wise for Levy to turn a blind eye. That’s why when JJ says the club are backing him and it’s just a blip, it just makes no sense whatsoever.

Of course the club will make all the right noises that Poch retains full support until the very last moment, but it’s goes against all belief and convention in PL history to even float the idea that Poch isn’t close to the sack. It’s just not feasible.
I agree and as it's been stated and proven in history, once a club drops perilously close to the drop with no sign of improvement then the club are forced to act and that can be against their intentions. But it's necessary.

I would caution against hearing only what is said from one specific source on this subject. Add up all the info, have a peek at the league table, and ultimately reach your own conclusion. My own conclusion was done long ago, I believe this is Pohcettino's last season at Tottenham. Which btw. is a separate issue enirely from whether ENIC or Pochettino or the players has been the main instigator behind where we are at.

The most problematic in this situation is not that Pochettino will be fired, but who will be appointed in the middle of the season. The frightening prospect is the appointment of Mourinho, he is waiting in the wings. He has a lot of fans even at the Spurs fan camp. I think that would be a big mistake. The likelihood of toxic infection is much greater than high achievements.

THat's your uttermost worry? The game is about scoring goals. When was the last time we scored more than once in a PL match? When was the last time we won with more than 1 goal in a PL match? When was the last time we were the most scoring team, ie. won, two matches in a row?
When i look at the attacking players we have i don't worry as the quality is there and just needs some coaching, when i look at our defenders i worry !
Incidently, we have scored the most goals out of any team outside of the top 4.

Not sure who’s head is deeper in the sand, people like myself who would rather we stuck with Poch until after we get rid of the rot who want to leave, or those who want Poch to leave and genuinely expect long-term changes for the better.
Agree. Then I looked at your username. So apt. ?

with sources claiming it would cost chairman Daniel Levy around £12.5 million to sack him

this is some thread that Gards is pointing to:

Started reading that and realised that it was all about how much that person hates Levy and Enic. I'm no BSODL but anyone who agrees with that clown is deluded.

Levy might be tight with the finances, but we've only progressed with him at the helm. We were nothing before he took over. We might not have won much under him but we've become challengers for the big trophies, at last. We're a big club now. All that's left is to win something major.

If he was in charge of another club I'd hate it.

this is some thread that Gards is pointing to:

No way, ENIC, really? Who would have thought that with a name like ENIC and what it stands for.

Fuck a duck.

Two decades eh? People keep forking over cash though season in season out.
