Yeah that was a bollox point I made.

Just frustration.

At the end of the day I'm just bored of watching us, bar the odd bit of glitter sprinkled in, we've been so boring to watch for nearly a year now.

that is because teams are going out their way to stop us playing how we like. with Sheff U they played like they do every week, we just don't have the players that are fresh, and passionate. He did what we all wanted today, he never played Eriksen, and all the outfield players that started played on Wednesday, got home early hours on Thursday and played today their 3rd game in 6 days for some of them, while Sheff Utd had a whole week to prepare and be ready to go

neither of them was truly at fault for the goal, Sanchez and Dier gave the ball away so often bringing the pressure back on to us
Need to have a closer look, but the way I saw it we were playing 5 across the back and Davies took up a very narrow position more akin to where LCB should be and left the man outside him in an absolute acre of space. Poor positioning or poor communication but thought it was Davies out of position.

well if Dier had been marking, then Davies might have not been so narrow

I hate the word transition with us. Every season seems to be one.
I get what you are saying to a level as we haven't won anything under Poch so one could argue that we were either continually in transition or we had a team capable of winning a trophy but just failed to do so.

Exactly.

The players will get a lift if Mourinho walks in and tells them "I'm here to win"

The players are tired of 'the project'

there might also be some players that don't want to play for him. he has a reputation for winning but also 1 that criticizes players in public, and a history of getting bored himself after 3 seasons to get sacked and leave with a big payout

He was actually getting better results with this matchday squad. Exactly 5 years ago today. So even the rebuilding monologue is just excuses.

To be exact, people will have forgotten today's disappointment by monday, and then a large group will swing back to #PochIn, and will spent the entire break vehemently disagreeing with #PochOut (calling people embarrasing, and "not real fans"), then we'll drop points to West Ham and everyone will be back to Pochmageddon
A-Poch-alypse, surely?

We all know what’s going to happen. We’ll win one or two games, he buys himself some time, then we go and lose some more. Rinse and repeat until another Club comes in to pay his compensation.

I don't think we're yet in a real pickle in terms of relegation. I might be wrong, it might change and get to a point where change does have to happen because we look in serious trouble, but I'm still fairly comfortable that at worst we'll pick up enough points and wins along the way as the season peters out. If there is a someone the club wants as new manager (whatever the scenario is with whoever is in charge at any point in time), and he is prepared to take the job now, then go get him by all means and back their judgement, but I assume most managers we'd be after have jobs already and will want to see out campaign and we don't have a caretaker readily available like last time, so leave him in place for now.

As for the rest, I get where you are coming from but it's not important as I see things. I don't think anyone will come in and turn it around immediately, so see this season as done. I don't care about any of the players, if they want to go - Son, Alli, even Kane - I wouldn't cry, none of them are giving 100%. Life goes on. Teams go on. Players come and go. Tottenham will still be here, as will I be supporting them. Anyone who has read my posts over the last few years can probably guess I wasn't overly impressed with or liked some of these players when we were winning matches, let alone in our current predicament!

And I can only go back to my original post. For me I watch first and foremost for the football itself, to my tastes and ideas of what I like. Which is high press, possession based, tactical football etc. That would be my starting point as for the new manager. That might very well mean taking a chance on a 'smaller' name or someone up and coming, but I don't care. I also don't put much stock in needing to get a 'winner'. I expect all managers to know what is needed to be done, when, and to make correct and savvy calls. Poch maybe just falls short in this regard, the next unheralded guy might not be.

I don't expect many, any, to agree. Most are desperate for trophies, dare I say view and watch football in a more black and white, results focused manner and base what they want off that. Fair enough, and that will be how players, managers, owners etc. view it too I imagine and be the criteria they get chosen on, but it's not my way of doing it.

we would have trouble getting in a caretaker, we wouldn't only be sacking Poch we would be losing a hell of a lot of background staff too

I wanted little change. I certainly didn’t want Serge & Davies in for sure. I really wanted to see a turn. I cannot see it after today.

actually this creates a real issue for Danny. The Red Star game showed that we do have a hand full of players who are ready for the next adventure but there is nowt behind them. Rebuild no matter what

I would prefer us to get a result like this with the team that started today then what we've been doing the last few weeks honestly. My major annoyance with poch is he is/was being very, very cowardly with his decision making which tells me he knows his job is on the line

I would've been ok with how the season has gone if he had come out beforehand said something akin to "it's going to be a tough season, we;re rebuilding the side, new players are going to start playing" and completely dropped certain players, bought in youth players to fill in and was actually similar to how he was in his first season. now it seems like he's trying to keep people happy

I had some insights into Sheffields matchday strategies

Boys, this is Tottenham, goin to be the easiest game of our life:

Stay compact at the back
1.They do not make meaningful passes
2.Their players rarely make runs, even if they do refer #1
3.They cant cross the ball
4.Do not needlesslly expend your energy by pressing the Tottenham players, let them pass sideway for 10 minutes, they will turn the ball over when they attempt a meek foward pass
5.Hit them.on the left,Aurier doesnt give a shit, hes leaving soon,.lucky for us, hes selected to start
6.Do not expand too much energy defending
7.Go all out when we have the ball,Tottenham doesnt play counter attack football, even in a 3 on 1 situation, they will very likely pull the ball back and wait for our defense to set before repeating #4

Just woke up, is the incompetent bastard still here?
I wouldn't call Levy incompetent mate. He's very cunning how to shift the can to the best players that it is their fault for wanting out when he just wants to cash in on them and giving them a reason for upping sticks by paying them embarrassing salararies in the first place, and also equally cunning to shift the blame to Jol, Redknapp and soon Pochettino for losing the plot when it's his and ENIC's fault for consistently underfunding them.

So yes, sadly Levy and ENIC are still here.

that is because teams are going out their way to stop us playing how we like.
:ROFLMAO:

This is my favourite out of all of your excuses. Thanks mate, you've really given me a chuckle when I needed one following another unacceptably poor showing from Spurs: that's cheered me right up.(y)

Poch prides himself on training his players to be the fittest and most endurable on the pitch. That’s kinda been his brand, right?

Well, it amazes me how often we see teams play against us who always seem to be a yard faster, more determined, and indefatigable when compared to us. We often seem tired, unfocused and nervous. It makes me sick thinking about some of our games this season. EG; being outplayed by Sheffield United, Brighton, Watford, Aston Villa (for 75 mins), etc. We are about as woeful as I can recall over the last ten years, if not longer.

Something has to change. As if we keep to this current path, then no one should delude themselves into thinking we are too good to get drawn into a relegation scrap. And lord knows, this crop of players don’t have the mettle to survive something like that. The majority of them have no fight in their belly. And also seem to lack belief in themselves, each other and the coach.

Shit is about as bleak as I can recall for many a year.
