connection yesterday. Apparently DL confident of getting everyone in that we're after. He added "everyone we're capable of getting in" meaning within our reach and budget. No names I'm afraid so queue the flack about it being useless info and who is this rock solid connection anyway etc etc. LOL Just telling those that might be interested, that's all. Was talking about biz most of the time and if he's had names he would have told me, so obviously DL didn't divulge.

Good sign that to me, shows we're realistic but hopefully not too unambitious about our targets and aren't pissing about. You can never take what DL says as truth though.

Maybe Baldini likes Sherwood more than Levy.

Surely that's harsh. I'm no fan of Deadwood, but as his role is Technical Co-ordinator and we've - in my lifetime at least - never been more technically competent and clearly have a footballing philosophy that pervades every layer of the club, he deserves credit for his success in the role. I'm not sure Levy strikes me as someone who needs or wants smoke blown up his ass.

The ITK says that Sherwood is Levy's right hand man and Sherwood is on the committe as well. Levy is not a football so he's probably sent Sherwood to check him out.

Surely to be expected? He's worked with Sherwood far longer, he's in a much more senior position than our Head Coach and presumably had more chances to prove himself more to DL.

Has everyone surprised by this forgotten that AVB is just a Head Coach. We don't have a manager. Or do I have to do *that* post again..? (please say not).

A more senior position? More important than coaching the first team who can bring CL football and trophies to the club? If he thinks that highly of Sherwood why doesn't he employ him as DOF?

Not doubting ITK in Baldini/Sherwood meeting, just seems strange that Levy would not attend such a meeting. This is a massive step for the club, and with he greatest respect to Sherwood, I'd imagine Baldini's reputation and name in football demands more than a chat with our development coach?

I'm pretty confident we can get anyone below 15 million as well.

I would take that as, We can`t get players that cost 20-25m we need to find that 31th last minute player. DL levy talking FFS

Just hope any players we sign are an improvement on what we have, I'd rather sign 2 quality players than 4 that don't improve us

He employs him as Technical Co-ordinator, which you could argue has even greater scope than DOF. And Sherwood is one-quarter of the recruitment conversation, on the same level as AVB. They're both extremely important, but surely it's not that surprising that a person who is responsible for just the first team and has been with us less than 12 months is not as trusted as the TC. Without knowing their job descriptions, it's difficult to say but there's far, far more to the club than the first team. I'd rather put the guy in charge of the club's footballing vision and identity at every level (including our brilliant academy) on a slightly higher pedestal than the highly-replaceable role of coach.

Not, of course, that we want a new coach all the time, but it's a world away from changing a position like manager, which Manchester United are currently doing.

What we really need is 4 top quality players, 2 strikers an attacking/creative player and another top centre midfielder (If were talking about proper upgrades). Hell yeah! TC doesn't have anything like the experience that AVB has at coaching/management level. You mean to say that Levy has employed someone to take charge of the first team who he can't trust more than someone who has very little coaching experience? Why bother employing him if he has to run everything past Sherwood? I'm not surprised AVB wants a DOF in his corner.

It's not as if we need a fucking rocket scientist to indicate to Levy which positions we need to strengthen the team in order to take the next step. I mean a fucking five year old with an atlas could point Levy and AVB at a country called Brazil and one called Spain without the need to enroll the services of a zen who couldn't spot eleven Englishmen who could turnover Montefurckingnegro.
