If we can get two, three years out of Villa it would be a fantastic signing. His fee would pay for it self with mechandise and exposure and it's also a big statement to sign one of the best strikers in the world, even if he is 31.

Seeing kids in Valencia wearing Spurs shirts would be awesome

I'd be surprised if we did move for Villa.

Doesn't fit any Levy criteria, big fee, big wages, over 30, long term injury...

If we did get him, it would suggest that either a) AVB has earnt his trust or b) we have a DOF in place to take the flak

I'd love it to happen though

As far as a CB coming in is concerned, it could make sense. It may not be one ready now for the PL but a young promising one. The new training facility means that we are looking to bring on youth. AVB as good as admitted he was wrong trying to ship out Daws last summer, but he is 29, 30 in November. It would be quite likely that AVB is planning ahead in bringing a young CB to mould into the way he wants us to play and prepare for the inevitable in 1 or 2 years' time.

As far as Villa is concerned what do those of you who watch Spanish footie think of his performances this seasonsince recovering from his injury?

Maybe if the Son deal is a no goer with Dortmund lurking, and we are actually looking for a centre half as believed, what about a cheeky double deal for Kurt Zouma as the up and coming CD, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the CF/WF option??

I watch pretty much every Barca and Real game in La Liga ... re Villa, difficult to tell whether he's trying too hard or that he is no longer the player prior to his injury. The Spanish pundits have said he's very inconsistent these days which makes sense as yes he scores the odd worldie aka Defoe but he misses an awful lot of simple chances aka Defoe. Of course he's an upgrade on Defoe as he runs around a lot and has very good vision but £10m plus for a 31 year old who's had a serious injury, not for me.

Hmm. I agree £10m for such player is not for me. However, if they are willing to let him go on a freebie or up to £5m it would be worth considering. He may still not have fully recovered from his injury, let's face it Ade is only just got over the lack of pre-season training - apparently! :cautious:

Although i do rate Villa i think 10+mil for a 31 year old who may need time to adjust to the speed and physical nature of the premier league is just a bit of a risk. Admittedly all players have a risk but when younger there is more time to settle and develop. I would rather see us spend more of the new TV money on a less established player who can develop. Damiao (i know him again) could fit this mould and if hes anything like Sandro he would be a beast, however, Sandro took a while to settle. Back to Villa, i would definately take him for less than 10mil or on loan

Would love this to happen...Yohan Mollo as a wide option would be good too...

I doubt this is the case, simply because Milos Veljkovic is an incredible talent for his age, and if we were looking for a talented young CB to mould, why would we look further afield?

David Villa would be our suarez, if we got him. Just not a ****. That kind of movement would make all the difference for us.

Last Summer they bid £15m for him and were prepared to treble his wages. Heard this off a reliable source at Spurs.

Don't buy that. We'd bite their hand off for £15m. He may be a good up and coming centre back but you can get a CB of real quality for that amount.
