Realistically we could go out and net spend 70 million this season, hoping we make the right signings to make CL. If we do then great, and I expect extra revenues would cover a large proportion of this debt. If we don't we have Bale and he alone could pretty much cover the costs of this seasons additions. It's great to be getting linked to first team changing players already. I'm surprisingly optimistic about our summer at the moment and hope all the big signing news comes off!

Could be because we have a manager in place that Levy trusts. Barring the initial survivial-spend on Palacios, Defoe and Keane, Levy was reluctant to give Harry licence to spend big. With a young, progressive manager in place, the 70-odd million we'll make for Bale hanging in the horizon, a make-or-break season coming up, and the extra tv money, it makes more sense for us to spend big now than it ever has before.

Exactly what I was thinking. Harry wad always a temporary manager from what I've heard for a while.

I don't see why not. All three are adaptable and can play in more than one position. Even goalie ;)
Rebrab said we were looking to be very fluid upfront and solid through the middle, so may be this guy is an alternative to Bernard and is being lined up to play off the left hand side of a front 3 full of movement.
In a 4-3-3 I don't see why not. Bale on the right cutting in, Villa on the left and Mkhitaryan occupying the more central role.

Isn't one of the reasons that Villa threw his toys out of the pram at Barca that he wanted to play in the central strikers role?

Also seems quite narrow to me. We'd be relying a lot on our fullbacks if both of our 'wide' forwards were cutting in all the time.

Obviously it's good to have different options, but I'm just not quite sure where this chap fits in with AVB's plans.

Transfer fees don't count against FFP do they? Could be completely wrong with this however

I can't say I am certain that they do, but I would imagine that they are fairly vital FFP calculations, otherwise clubs like City and Chelsea would continue to blow teams out of the water and make FFP irrelevant.

Thought that came from Roger Morgan not Sky Italia?

Either way it wouldn't surprise me if his agent is out and about meeting various people. Doesn't really mean much though.

It doesn't seem like a particularly narrow front 3 to me, but by definition playing a front 3 makes you fairly narrow anyway and places an emphasis on your full backs getting forward. I think the end of last season showed that Bale is capable of varying his game on the right, and you would expect Martin (I'm calling the **** with a silly name Martin from now on) would be able to play off the left and find space inside on occasion, just like you would expect Villa to be willing to start in a central role and move around to make himself harder to mark and create space. Basically to cut a long story short I think that front three is capable of doing what rebrab has indicated we are trying to do.

Like you said Sky Italia are poo, they are the pooiest of poo, I very rarely pay attention to them.

Or you could take the easy route and design the chant to the tune of 'Hey Mickey'?

There are two different sets of regulations - the UEFA FFP and the Premier League FFP.

UEFA FFP looks at ALL football-related spending (so transfer fees are certainly included), whereas the PL rules are more concerned with wage bills.

The main element of the new PL rules is that clubs with an already high wage bill (anything above £52m - which is about 75% of clubs in the PL) are only allowed to increase that by £4m (plus any increase in revenue from sponsorship/ticket sales) per year for the next 3 years.

The rules were designed to prevent the bumper new TV deal money being used solely to inflate player salaries even further than they already have been.

Coolio.

I haven't seen Martin play so have no idea if he's capable of playing that role, but it sounds like his standard position is more central so he'd certainly have to adapt to fit in.

I don't doubt that's the system we're going for, but would just be surprised if we used a player who's so used to playing centrally to play that role.

As I said though I think this one is something of nothing.
