It depends on our approach to the new PL FFP rules. We may be willing to do it this summer to be able to write it off early. I'm not saying that is the case but it is a possibility.

I'm also not sure if Toela is ITK at all tbh.
I'm not saying he is ITK, but he is the only scally on here so I am going to notice what he says, true or not.

I just don't see Levy, or many clubs paying everything or the majority up front. It just doesn't happen in this day and age. I'd be shocked if Lolerpool did, but it has been mooted

You also have to bear in mind that Teola has said in the other thread that The scousers are prepared to pay the majority up front

Course they are. Because they are muppets who have just received a wedge of cash from another bunch of muppets for a muppet that the original muppets first spent 35m on.

Muppets.

Well according to Wikipedia "Mkhitaryan is capable of playing positions of both central striker and striker style midfielder" so I'm thinking if this link was real, a front 3 of Bale - Mkhitaryan - Villa? Or is that too hopeful? Also, he scored 25 goals in 28 league games, which doesn't sound too shabby to me!

How much is the TV money? I'd be surprised if it covered a big spend and I'd be surprised also if the usually cautious Levy, would just sanction the use of TV money.

Unless Lewis has decided to dip his hand in his pocket, I don't think so.

We have had a lot of commercial growth over the last few years, it may not be reflected very well through our headline figures but you have to remember that the season we qualified for the CL pretty much all the money we earned went to the players in extra wages and bonuses. Since than we haven't matched our record profits but have been growing. With transfers, TV money, etc. we may just push the boat out this summer, in order to match the spending that we are seeing from our competitors.

It was actually, unless you want to ignore all the vital goals he scored for us, and want to believe he wouldn't have helped them gain extra points last season.
It actually was amazing? Are you sure?

Decent squad filler signing sure, but amazing?

Klinsmann was an amazing signing, you and I must have very different definitions of the word

Maybe he has realised that 'his style'.....whilst it has got us quite far...now needs to evolve.

By 'his style' I mean his good business sense. We don't evolve by paying out 25m on one chunk. We put ourselves under big financial pressure.

If we paid 25m upfront for this guy then that would probably be it for our spending until January.

I think it was something like £80+ million for both domestic and international.

It's surely, Paulinho or Mkhitaryan - not both.

Can he play further forward though as maybe a false 9?

Yes. He's very capable of playing as both a false and a true 9. Most of his goals comes from inside the box, he makes runs like a proper CF, plays off the shoulder, he's very clever and pretty powerful.

With Bale, Villa and Mkhitaryan we'd have a very formidable front three.

tv money is a guaranteed extra £60m i believe. Even the relegated teams are looking at an extra £30m+. It's almost doubling i believe this year which is probably one of the reasons qpr went balls out to ensure they stayed in the division.

i may be wrong but am sure i read somewhere there's an absolute ton of cash coming in. means clubs can spend with the knowledge they can cover ffp too, as long as the wages fit into current structures of course.

If we have a big spend up, I just wonder why we've decided to do it now, rather than the year when we first qualified for the champions league, which could have made all the difference.
Could be because we have a manager in place that Levy trusts. Barring the initial survivial-spend on Palacios, Defoe and Keane, Levy was reluctant to give Harry licence to spend big. With a young, progressive manager in place, the 70-odd million we'll make for Bale hanging in the horizon, a make-or-break season coming up, and the extra tv money, it makes more sense for us to spend big now than it ever has before.

Surely we wouldn't be able to play all three though?

Rebrab said we were looking to be very fluid upfront and solid through the middle, so may be this guy is an alternative to Bernard and is being lined up to play off the left hand side of a front 3 full of movement.

Transfer fees don't count against FFP do they? Could be completely wrong with this however
