Tanganga still here
Sanchez still here
One of Skipp or Sarr will be getting no 1st team minutes.
Devine didn’t get a loan and won’t see any minutes here.
No players out on loan made permanent.
No CB upgrade.
No goalkeeper succession.
No creative mid.
Contes target, Zaniolo, available but not with us.

Doherty a panic termination. Unplanned and shows lack of squad planning - and just highlights poor squad management and incompetence.

Danjuma an unplanned opportunistic signing and replaces Gil as an attacking sub. Looks like he could be a decent player and offers some pace from the bench.

We paid Sevilla Lamela, £25 mil and Gil on loan for GIl.

Porro seems a good signing - hopefully a positive and hopefully can live up to the faith put in him on here!

3.5 out of 10

The Doherty stuff is a proper final slap in the face in a month where I've realised I don't like or trust pretty much every element of the club

How anyone can’t see past this I do not know.

Just because it was a ‘mutual agreement’, doesn’t mean it wasn’t handled in shambolic fashion.

Huh? If the club had fucked up and made an illegal loan deal then that loan deal is immediately invalid.
At that point there is nothing to stop Matt returning as a Tottenham player UNLESS the true arrangement was always that this was a one way trip and both Club and player knew it.

My question isn't "how didn't we know the rules?" but, rather, why was it so urgent we get Doherty off our books that we tried to dress it up as a "loan" in the first place?

Definitely agree with that second sentence, makes no sense to me what has happened with him. It feels like we're not backing the manager to the point where I'm resigned to the notion he shall be leaving, if that feeling proves true then it's strange to me that we would decide to let go a player who might have been of value to the next guy in charge. Though if I'm honest, whilst typing this; I'm far happier that Spence will be returning for a new manager to make the most of, should that be the route we take and getting Doherty out the way, helps that situation.

Well it's not invalid until the deadline presumably, hence we rushed to terminate his contract so late once we realised the error of our ways.

There's not some UEFA droid that instantly starts beeping CODE RED the second a club sends a 9th player on loan - but UEFA would've fined us after the fact once the window closed and it was clear we'd broken the rules.

The idea that we faked a loan makes infinitely less sense to me and is the opposite of Occam's Razor. Why would Atletico be party to that?

Our last two January windows have actually gone really well - 3 starters and what looks to be an impact sub in, when prior Januarys were more like the wind blowing tumbleweeds across Route 66 - but this one does feel like we left something on the table. I'm hopeful that this will be enough of a kick in the pants offensively that we can pull out an FA Cup. Which I'd honestly be thrilled with.

Did we? The only communication that came from the club was that we have terminated his contract. The media said Doherty was going out on loan, and that there were discussions. That could have come from mendes, or atletico.

Also, not one journalist knew that we had fulfilled our quota.

The reality is that no one knows the discussions had.

Seems like another real cock up by the club, but are we surprised?

If Levy runs the playing side on a shoestring, why would we not expect him to do the same with staff behind the scenes? The poor gits are probably seriously overworked, understaffed and underpaid.

I find it very hard to believe that in this "rush and panic" the club called Matt and convinced him to tear up his contract.

Again - Occams Razor suggests both Club and Player knew this was a one way trip from the get go.

Not saying I understand it - just that logic suggests it

We paid him off - that's how we convinced him. He knew he was probably leaving Spurs in 6 months regardless with Porro arriving. Now he gets a pay-off and can get a signing on fee at his next club in the summer.

Win/win for Doc.

We gotta put all this negativity to one side and get behind the team for a bit and just see what happens, we can’t change anything now.

Yes it’s been a disappointing window but we’re in touching distance of 4th and still have the FA Cup and Champs League to play for, all is not lost yet.

Judging by the comments in the last half hour it might be time for another break from here and Twitter for a while!

Fucking hell I just realised that Athleti's fullbacks are Reguilon and Doherty. Forgot that we had Reg coming back.

The one single thing you (or anyone else for that matter) can do to improve your internet experience is to get yourself off Twitter completely. It's an abscess on the backside of humanity.

We don't know how we found out though. It could well have been the Premier League who made a call for all we know

I agree, and come match day, I’ll be full of my normal optimism that we’ll win.

although the constant concern that a dier, Davidson, Davies, Langley, loris mistake will gift someone a couple of goals remains ?

What does that make SC then? A hairy mole on the scrotum of humanity?
