Berba must be on £100k a week+. Would we really pay that much for someone coming to the end of their career?

He's likely earning less at Fulham than he was with United. If he wants to play in the top six he might have to take a pay cut again. Either that or it's relegation.

Isn't Nani on a long term injury right now? Why on earth would we be pursuing him for a loan?

80k p/w I think it's being reported as. Not cheap but only 10k p/w more than Holtby.

I know we made the deal for Holtby as a free (then paid £1.5m to get him released early). But still that's a lot of wages. Can see why we might want rid.

Down as hamstring with No Return Date on Physioroom—although that shouldn't really stop him passing a medical.

I appreciate that information, but teams don't pursue loans for players that don't immediately hit the ground running. I can't recall ever seeing an instance in which a team brought in a player for a semester loan that was on an undefined recovery period. That's just poor business.

Charlie Austin is out for a 'prolonged period' at QPR which may mean a slide across for one of Redknapp's targets Kane. Would be a good move as the lad has potential.

If its just a loan till end of season , I say match the wages. quibling(sp) over a few £thoun defeats the objective as it would de-motivate him. Perm deal is another matter in which Levy needs to be let of his leash.

Which is why we might take Berba on a 6 month loan and not pay the £1m transfer. Then use the £1m towards his wages.
