Or could be that another club is interested in buying Livermore for better money so we are doing what we need to, to bring him back from loan.

Less likely, but still possible.

Below is the Football league standard loan rules.

According to this, as long as there is loan recall clause (refer 53.2.2) in original loan deal (signed in summer), loan could be terminated in Jan. There is no reference to loan fee given here.

Which means, there is a possibility of loan cancellation of Livermore.

Infact there is already precedent for this

i) Nuri Sahin loan terminated by Liverpool in Jan 2013, meaning he went to BVB from RM
ii) Adel Tarabdt loan terminated yesterday & he is now moved to Milan
iii) Rodgers rubbished terminating Moses loan from Chelsea on Jan 14 this year. Very fact that he rubbished means even within PL clubs recall is possible....

Let the melt down begin !!!

53.2 Standard Loans. Subject to the provisions of Regulation 52.2, Standard Loan transfers shall only be approved in accordance with following provisions:

53.2.1 Standard Loans shall be allowed to or from Clubs (or, as applicable, clubs) in membership of The Football League, The Premier League, The Football Conference, Northern Premier League, Isthmian League and Southern League providing the rules and regulations of the respective leagues so allow.

53.2.2 Subject to the proviso that the duration of a Standard Loan must be the time between two Transfer Windows, Standard Loans can be for half a Season or a full Season. Any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Transfer Window. Any other early termination of a Standard Loan must be by way of a mutual agreement in writing (including by way of a recall clause within the Standard Loan Agreement) between both Clubs and the Player but can only be completed after the expiry of 28 days and only during a Transfer Window (but subject to Regulation 53.2.3 below).

53.2.3 A Player whose Standard Loan expires (or terminates) on completion of his Loaning Club's League Matches will not be eligible to play for his Parent Club (where it is a Member Club) in any remaining League Matches in that Season notwithstanding the fact that such expiry or termination occurs during a Transfer Window.

53.2.4 Notwithstanding the provisions of Regulation 53.2.2, a Standard Loan of a goalkeeper (but not otherwise) may be subject to a recall clause exercisable at any time. Any recall may only be implemented in extenuating circumstances and with the consent of the Executive, such extenuating circumstances to be determined in the Executive's absolute discretion. A goalkeeper shall not be permitted to resume any Standard Loan following the exercise of a recall.

53.2.5 A Loaning Club can have a maximum of 4 Players under 23 and a further 4 Players over 23 registered on a Standard Loan during any Season. The deadline for determining a Player's age in this respect shall be 30 June prior to the Season in which the Standard Loan is intended to take place.

53.2.6 No more than 2 Players who are over 23 may join one Loaning Club from another Parent Club on a Standard Loan in any Season.

53.2.7 Standard Loans which subsequently become permanent transfers (which can occur any time during the period of the Standard Loan) shall not count against a Club's quota of such Standard Loans for that Season.

Summary of my above post is

as long as there was a recall clause in loan deal & as long as 3 parties (2 clubs & player) agree mutually, loan termination/recall is possible.

But are these the same rules for loans between 2 premiership clubs? I know some of the rules are different. We have our own ffp rules compared to the football league for instance.

Well, fact that Rodgers rubbish the rumour about cancelling Moses loan means its technically possible

http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...man-victor-moses-seasonlong-loan-9053685.html

Key is mutual agreement between 3 parties. In Chelsea's case, they might not take him back becuase of their over blown squad size.

I know people will be apoplectic if thats true, but i would be genuinely delighted if we ever saw a midfield 3 of Livermore, Bentaleb and Carroll.

You missed the bit that said "playing for a team in the Championship next season" at the end of your sentence rambling.

Infact found the best precedent

Premier league blocked Joe Hart recall from Birmingham city to Man City in 2010. The reason they blocked was there was no recall clause.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_city/8644269.stm

So, Livermore recall comes down to what was written in the agreement between us & Hull

Looks like Hull have a habbit of including recall clause for another loanee of their's Danny Graham.
In this article, Graham talks about possible Jan recall back to Sunderland...

http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...call-striker/story-20116307-detail/story.html

Article says......

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bruce also admitted Jake Livermore could feasibly return to parent club Tottenham in the new year, although that eventuality is unlikely given the strength in depth available at White Hart Lane.

"There's a possibility Danny Graham could go back and there's a possibility Jake Livermore could go back to Spurs too," said Bruce.

"That's something I've got to live with. Gus Poyet rates Danny highly so I wouldn't be surprised. That's a concern and we have to be ready for it if it happens.

"You can put things in place to have a replacement ready in the event of it happening so we'll be prepared. We've got a few irons in the fire."

Do feel free to ignore the fact that Villas-Boas wanted him but gave him fewer minutes per game than Sherwood has.
You're right. Totally absolves Sherwood just as it does AVB. I'm crafting my tear soaked apology letter to both men now.
