Just saw Wigan accepted a bid of £9 million for Moses. If we are paying anything even close to that for Willian I'll be furious.

hmmm agree same as hoillet, both young hungry and played in prem, granted limited to a season or so but well proven, will both create and both have good end product as well as good work rates,
maybe we have better options? compared to these two?
will be interesting to see how hoillet and mosses do compared to who ever we use out wide and in creative positions,

Perhaps you can't see VDV staying, but he's clearly a much better player, and Willian would still be backup to Lennon and Bale. Anyway, enough OT from me.
not just me, Hamburg newspapers, dutch newspapers and english ones. Hamburg want him.

He's clearly a much better player... who doesn't ever play a full 90 minutes and hardly sees his wife because she works in Germany. That's why, 2+2.. we shall see.

I reckon the latin quote is about Llorente. He's certainly the big signing we've been chasing for a while now, and he's Spanish to boot. Soon we will hear the lion roar.

Yep i've convinced myself it's really happening.

I think that ship hasn't so much sailed, as sunk in the harbour.

Based on his performances in the Ukrainian Premier League?
There was a very interesting bit on radio 4 yesterday about the Bulgarian League - basically, non-EU players go there because the Bulgarian sports minister has the power to fast-track an EU passport for resident sports professionals who would "significantly improve the national team in a position where a weakness has been identified".
The reporter was suggesting this was a well-known con - open to huge abuse - and possibly happening elsewhere (eg Ukraine).

They finished the programme by pointing out a few things:
Only 1 player who received a passport in this manner has ever represented Bulgaria.
All but one player have since left Bulgaria on large transfer fees.
31 players have qualified in this way.
There has not been a Sports Minister since 2002.
All applications were handled by a civil servant who was eventually murdered with very significant gambling debts.

An interesting story. Not that I think there could be any link with Ukraine. After all, I'm sure it's the league all young Brazillian players dream of playing in...

The Ukrainian Premier League is ranked as Europes 19th best league. You're quite right in thinking I don't watch the UPL but I've seen Willian in both EL and CL.

well you obviously can't have good players in bad leagues can you? o_O

an odd odd thing to say. he's better than moses.

The biblical fella?

Never seen this Willan guy in my life (mebbe when we played Shakhtar I dunno) but Moses has never really stood out a great deal to me. I think we need more brains out wide, been saying this for a while. We have the pacey whizz of Bale and Lennon, but we could desperately do with having some intelligence on the ball when we shift it out wide.

For arguments sake lets assume we are signing Willian and Leandro, and for argument sake lets just assume both cost £20m each as press reports suggest figures around that mark. That is I would imagine a massive chunk of our transfer budget so where does that leave us for a Modric replacement?

I can't see us signing Leandro, Willian and Moutino in the next week you would be looking at £65m plus easily for all three of them.

I took it to mean the latin statement he retweeted right after that... "Audere est Facere"

I'm sure I remember quotes about a £50m transfer chest and purchases not being reliant on the sale of Modric. If that was the case, the £65m is there plus a chunk to keep back for January.

Archie on SO re VDV and Fryers:
In response to someone saying "VDV is going nowhere", Archie replied:
Archibald said:
dont be so sure yet

re: Fryers
Archie agreed with Ari Gold saying:
Ari Gold said:
If people need this spelling out....He's gone to Belgium for peanuts and in a years or six months he can come back to England for much, much less money.
and then someone asked "Isn't there a risk that we could then get outbid by another English club, and therefore lose out?" and Archie replied:
Archibald said:
i dont know but maybe we have done the deal already

check the RO about Van der Vaart. Add that to Dawson and Bassong. Then Modric. How much more is needed to meet this ~£65m?
