Could just have missed 'last chance saloon'

Now if it was a last chance salon, he'd never have missed it!

I'm not sure though, word has it that Bents has been loving avb and the fact that he's given him a chance. Although whether he'll fit avb's plans is another thing.

Once upon a time (long before he joined us) I used to think Bentley was a good player. Sadly for the last few years he just seems to be sitting back and enjoying being on easy street.

I agree but, he's shown he can do it in the past so maybe he can do it again. He was (seemingly) having a bit of a bad go for a while and during that time, managed to drink drive, got nicked and got publicly shamed. Harry doesn't seem to do second chances, so maybe one thing led to another and both player and manager gave up on each other.

Maybe avb, a younger manager and a new style, will be just the catalyst he needs to rediscover his love of football? He's supposed to be great in the dressing room and maybe, he's just one of those players that needs to be worked hard and liked, to get the best out of him.

When he was coming through at Arsenal, he played higher up the pitch in a similar role to Bergkamp (*spelt wrong, but my minds gone blank!), before dropping back into midfield. He did draw some hopes that he'd emulate the Dutch Master, at one time.

Stranger things have happened.

I love this post because I'd also like to see Bentley do well. He really was a great talent a few short years ago. It's a crying shame that he's become so ineffective and forgotten. He needs to hold his head up, play well, show people that (hopefully) he's still got it in him and do that Phoenix thing. Not impossible by any means.

Levy's let us down big time.

One striker - no ambition :(

Fucking hell it's 1st September already, time really does fly.... How did we do against Newcastle and West Brom ?

Define ambition, would making a 50m for Messi be ambitious or stupid ?

I really hope they alter the timings of the transfer windows as it is really shite that we play 2 games with half a squad each year judging by the last 2 seasons.

Good post. I'm no eternal optimist but there are certain players I've harboured hope for over the last couple of seasons. Bentley and Gio are the two that spring to mind as potentially being useful members of the squad. Unfortunately it looks increasingly unlikely (though I'm convinced Gio will do well for another team in the near future).

Still...if AVB shows faith in them, I'll show faith in him. After all, he gets to work with them on a daily basis.

There is something seriously wrong with our transfer policy we have been looking for a striker for almost three years and we are no closer to signing anyone and the only reason we have ade is cos he is cheap serious issues
