i'm getting more and more wound up by this transfer window and in levy i do not trust at all his penny pinching and need to get one over other chairmen at any cost will in the end cost us bigtime, this is the exact fucking time to loosen the purse strings and spend big or fuck of back to mid table......its really as simple as that!

This is the reality of the club we support, we have absolutely no record of spending "chelsea" money on big players. I dont expect us to start now. Im happy to sacrifice the first few games of the season if thats what needs to be done and ill save my judging of Levy for September 1st

This isn't the first time JJ has had a little pop at Levy. The point is, you either buy into how he/we have to do business or you don't.
You accept it's methodology or you don't. We all accept that every club/manager/chairman will make mistakes, and Levy undoubtedly has, but many of his peers are playing with better decks than Levy is. So that needs to be taken on board.

It's really fucking easy for any of us who do not have the responsibility of making decisions that commit the club to tens of millions of pounds of debt over short/medium/long terms to whinge about "just get the deal done" or "just pay what they want" but I fear people who do just don't understand or refuse to accept that every penny adds up to a club run on a self sustaining basis. £3m saved on a fee is a years wages for one of our top earners. People get fucking blasé about this.

He has a model, he sticks to it. It may be painful sometimes, but it is almost certainly necessity. It perhaps means we can't always get what we want short term, but it means we nearly always get where we need to be medium/long term.

you know what's annoying the hell out of me? modric. he's our player until he's sold so the arsehole should have been in the team tonight, helping his team mates from the past few years out, doing his job yeah it was only a friendly but every game is a game the players should want to win.
I don't care if he's being sold, waiting for an offer etc...
do we end up going into the season whilst his head gets sorted?
it seem to me the whole levy brinksmanship on a few deals it getting soo many of the fans riled up. even his most ardent fans are getting wound up.
the only plus is that if Adebayor does come in then he know the players and can fit into the side, anyone else needs to get to know their new team mates... oh yeah that's what pre season is for.

We can't afford to sacrifice any points at any stage.

It's just situation like this that proves am right form withdrawing emotionally from football and most especially spurs.

It's so obvious we needed strengthening in certain areas but we just don't address it. Even if we get a striker or two b4 season starts he would not have had preseason with us.

Holding on to modric till now is just silly, he wants out then get rid and plan for the future. We have the opportunity to progress from last season, invest early, get the squad together for a good preseason and we kick on from there.
Almost there but still far away from success. Lesson learnt from past.... No!

Ps: I am at stage 5
S1: anger
S2: sad
S3: realization
S4: acceptance
S5: don't give a monkey

whilst i agree with what your saying the glaring fact is we look like we could be going into the season with one fit first team striker when last season we had two, three by the third game.

Indeed. There are definite weakensses though. Why don't we go after a Cisse or another Berbatov? We seem to think as a club that it's shit or bust time when it comes to strikers. I remember the long threads and rather, and pleasingly, spiteful arguments about the eternal search for a "perfect striker" last summer. We managed to get one in tbf, so let's not give up all hope just yet. However, and I fully respect what JD has done for this club over the yrs, there must be a happy medium in between JD and the Ibrahimovics/Higuains/Agueros of this world.

The Real Mc Foy...

Chris F(uck)O(ff)Y!

Just trawled through the last few pages, like an elongated suicide note!
We do business late, it pisses us off every year but that's how we do things.
Think JJ's fooling with us with this worried talk, he's been like this before and come out the next day saying things like 'more positive today #movinginrightdirection' and all that jazz.

It'll be alright. Sandro's back soon and er...the answer to all our forward related problems um... Gio? :)

Sandro will bring along his best buddy Leandro, even if he has to chain him up first.

If there is no money in the purse it doesn't matter shit how much we losen the strings.

Agree Steve, but the sale of Modric shouldn't affect our ability to get a forward or two though should it?

The 2 are not connected at all or shouldn't be. But if we want an Ade, LD or Llorente then they are all massively difficult transfers for a club like ours for differing but ultimately the same reasons...money.

We can sign strikers for sure with not too much hassle but not the ones we really want or who will propel us into the place we want to be...the Pav's and Crouch's of this world are fine and easier to do but we're aiming higher and that brings problems that we can't avoid fiscally.

We have no choice as fans but to be patient and wait until deadline day unfortunately. If that means a poor start to the season then so be it - I'm not happy about it either but it's our reality and we are all hoping for the best.

I'm more pissed off about Cazorla going to Arsenal who was gettable, but it seems we went early on Sigs and that was that. Sigs is good, Cazorla is better IMO. That's a classic example to me at least of going early on a player, tying him up and then a better player becoming available - too late for us...

I think we'll sign Ade at least - any more would be marvellous but I don't think it'll happen for a minute...

I think when AVB came in, then we signed Gylfi straight away, we all thought "woah, maybe we will get our business done and then just knuckle down". Unfortunately it hasn't gone that way and I kinda feel sorry for Harry and the criticism he received at times when we left it so late. It is obviously just the way we operate, the Modric saga doesn't look anywhere near done, Madrid are obviously trying to squeeze us and it won't work.

How long did Alonso have left when they paid £30m for him? I mean you'd think they would learn. Modric is a bit younger, on a longer contract and has been part of a fairly successful team who don't need the money. Plus the market has changed in those 3 years. He will be just as important as Alonso has been for them (I imagine he will replace him eventually). Oh well, I guess we will all just have to try and excite ourselves for Newcastle away with Defoe up top, don't like it but as others have said, as long as we have our targets in by September 1st then I will be content. We SHOULD have enough in our squad to see us through, at the moment I'd take a draw at Newcastle:sick:

September 1st and we are still in same position? THEN we should all be worried, only then though.

Chances are though, he was on Arsenal's radar anyway, and they'd have nicked him in a two horse race if we'd have shown interest anyway.

The rest is spot on though.

It doesn't but to make things worse we've sold pretty much all our decent squad players and now have little to no cover in midfield/attack. You would think the club has major debt issues?

Maybe we need to put money aside for the new stadium? It would make a lot of sense, plus the investment rumours remain just that at this stage.

One thing that continues to puzzle me is the sale of Pienaar. Would have suited the AVB system I think.

Yep. I was thinking about this too. I can only assume that his heart was set on returning to Everton after going back on loan there. AVB probably came in, spoke to him, and decided that it was probably best to just let him go rather than kick off his reign by keeping him against his will (and before anyone says it, it's completely different to the Modric situation).
