Doumbia is not only a 442 striker...Where are you guys getting this from? He was only ever a lone striker in Switzerland where he won the topscorer award 3 years in a row and then at CSKA was a lone striker half the time with how volatile Vagner Love is/was.
I agree. Haven't seen too much of him but he isn't a Defoe. Shift and shoot one trick pony. Although, tbf to JD he's pretty good at that one trick. He has a little nouse which is a neccessity in this team. Painfully stupid footballers need not apply.

Doumbia would be a good little signing, for mine. Only because we're not linked with Soldado at all it seems.

magic beans to pay for him i suppose.

i said before and ill keep saying it will be absolutely shocked if spurs break transfer record anytime soon. we are a penny pinching u know what club who deserve everything its gets when transfer targets dont come.

hindsight is great but gambles should have been taken in january if itk is to be believed that we could have had hazard and or remy( dont believe it myself ) but signings of this type should have been made above what maybe they shoudl have been then and i have no doubt we wud all be laughing at arsenal now. instead we penny pinched and chanced our arm and got what we deserved last saturday night.
How much do youthink Soldado would cost?

def over 16/ 17 million .. valncia are in the shit arent they? no matter how good or bad they will squeeze alot of cash out of clubs buying their players and since he bangs in goals i wud imagone biiding starting at least 20 million.

besides all that why wud he join us anyway? seriously.

not sure if marseille are in cl, i dont think so , so remy might be our best bet as not alot of the top clubs are after him so that might work but he is a player im not overly fond of either. every time i seen him play he has been just awful to put it kindly.

Also, just thinking to myself, you wouldn't fly out just to try and complete a deal for a guy who has already visited the lodge and the ground and agreed personal terms, would you? I mean surely, a few conference calls and an agreement over the phone. There has to be more than Vertonghen about Levy AND Eales' visit to Amsterdam. Why both of them? Why not just Levy?

JJ 'winnered' this post btw...ties in with what he posted....Remy too? They won't be coming back empty handed I think...

well i just read reports that levy went out in morning and was back in evening?? others says their is second round of talks today so i really dont know whats the story but if i had to place a bet it wud be something like levy meeting ajax yesterday, playing hardball and eventually coming to figure that ajax still not happy with and told levy to do one which he gladly did and is now sitting at home or in office waiting to see how it plays out!

Soldado is close to being Spain's no#1 now I think he might be a little out of our reach.

Doumbia would make another good crowd chant though - we'd have KABOOOM and DOOUMBIA :D

yeah i kinda knew they were poor but still im not overly convinced he is a player who wants to test himself in a foreign league. why not before ? he cud be a bit of a home boy? top french players usually left france very young to play in differnet leagues. he might be top player for us who knows , im just a little sceptical on him.

maybe Luuk De Jong? How far is Enschede from Amsterdam? We do need a target man after all...

I wonder how hard it is to get from Amsterdam to almost any other city in Europe? When you've got a private jet I should imagine most places are within very easy and speedy reach.

I just hope we mean business this summer, and we show it early doors. Get some deals done, show Modric and Bale (and the rest of 'em) that we're intent on not just finishing in the top 4 but challenging for major honours.

In January we were pissing our pants at the thought of a title challenge! I dunno about the rest of you but I thought then if we'd added a couple of bits of quality and some squad depth we might, just might have had an outside chance of a title tilt. We weren't far off really.

Now come May it's all doom and gloom. What the fuck?! We didn't suddenly become shit. Keep what we've got, add the aforementioned missing ingredients and bits of quality - and away we go! Simple as that. Or is it?

I agree.
There were a lot of factors in combination that did for us, from February on, but signing a striker who hit the ground running, and renewed our momentum would have done wonders for us.

My suspicion is that somewhere within the workings of the Levy/Redknapp axis, they were pretty convinced that, with the position we were in, we should be okay for 3rd (must admit, I did, too). But that was before Capello-Gate/Redknapp-Gate, our rivals' glee in helping unsetlle us, aided by the FA who must have been able to see that we were being unsetlled and, seemingly, didn't have any intention of offering him the job, and so should have said so, etc.

Yeah, I agree all in all. We could definitely have done with another striker. I don't mind Saha, I think he's a useful squad player, but that's not what we needed! We needed more.

I don't think we need to go over it too in depth, but in a nutshell we come undone. The foundations are there to be built upon though if we've got the courage in our convictions to be bold in the transfer market. I'm starting to believe that we might just do that this summer. Please, please, please let that be true!

I'm suprised he ever comes back, Tottenham's hardly the place of choice to go if you've got a private jet and a load of cash...

Mebbe a toofer. Vertonghen and Eriksen or summat. LDJ would be a very very good bit of business. You could drive from the Dam to Enschede in a couple of hours, never mind fly.

Yes, furry muff. A yr or so ago he was interested in a move to the prem. He's had another good season though and established himself as a firm member of the Spanish squad. Wouldn't be around £10m-£12m that was being touted a yrs or so ago.

A day late and a dollar short maybe. Doubia offers something like him though. Still, no idea of the finances of Russian clubs. Are CSKA likely to do a Levy? "Top dollar or fuck off". Unless we somehow get over the wages hurdle with Ade, keep Saha and sign another #9 like LDJ. Ade, after all, isn't exactly a traditional target man so they wouldn't all be samey. Different options and all that.
