If Carlsberg did transfer windows.....
As SB signs the ... ticker then announces the joint signing of Witsel, and Javi Martinez on loan with an option to buy...
Now that would be a Lovely Day...

Tottenham have had a £15m bid for West Ham midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate rejected, according to the Daily Mail.

Worst paper for transfer news ever?

Obbi Oulare in London, is it is that's getting him though?

Never mind, it's Watford.

True, but the Gingers we're seeing Ain't No Sunshine when everyone else saw Lovely Day.
JJ also has a "tone" to his posts that let you know whether he is confident or not. To date, he has been very positive, whereas, if you remember the last window, he remained adamantly downbeat after advising us early that we would do little to no business.

He was bang on there too.

On the DM, I agree that the optimism may not extend that far. However, we've seen no pessimism on that front either. The other thing to consider is that JJ and Trix have pretty much been on the same page from day 1. Trix has posted that we have made progress on both fronts, followed by JJ's Lovely Day Tweet, which would suggest that, if one has possibly advanced to agreement, we could be very close to the other too.

Don't get me wrong TSH, I'm not hanging my hat on this, I never do (I'm not Ginger). But there are good reasons to feel optimistic AT THIS TIME.

I trust our ITK. However, I don't hold them responsible if the situation changes.
Superb post- thoughtful and balanced.

Witsel doesn't need to be in the country. Just do a subject to medical, like vdV and most other deadline day signings

Aren't most players with their international teams now anyway? I doubt many will want to be flying anywhere so have to assume any deals will be done without the player there.

Appreciate that but as I understand it we are yet to meet face to face with the player

Would explain us scurrying around for the likes of Kouyate. However maybe we could explore the loan option Milan were going for and therefore avoid some of the formalities.

That's not unusual either though. If a club comes in for you, its safe to assume the manager wants you. No need for a nice cosy chat as well.

I think one positive in regards to Berahino is that if they were certain he was staying WBA would probably have released an official statement about it by now.

Feeling like despite any good news it'll be Berahino or no-one.

Can't see where this DM is coming from unless there's a U-turn on Zenit's stance on Witsel

Pretty sure we could just sign Witsel and then formally present him later in the week or when he's back from international duty.

Still, I don't believe that one is going to happen, too many things that can go wrong.

Another lurker here. Actually on my honeymoon in Ko Samui (in the Irish pub though; you can't buy class) checking this place for any nugget of information. The missus hasn't clocked me yet...
