No pressure then!

Give the lad some slack...........we build them up to shoot them down

Agree. I'm all for positivity but everyone seems to be on cloud nine just for the fact we've bought a LB and CB. I know they were problem areas, but it remains to be seen how good Davies is and although I'm pleased we've signed a young defender, he's one for the future and hardly the top class CB we need to partner Verts whilst Kaboul gets his fitness and mojo back (If he ever does).

It's a good start but we need more.

It's when you go out shopping to buy one single thing and come back, as opposed to stopping for 4 hours looking at pointless shit.

Just in case you get five notifications about me rating this post; those were all intentional. I think it was 3 Winners and 2 Agrees.

Yago's departure is good business. Shame he couldn't make the step up at Spurs.

Wonder if it will act as a driving force for players like Ceballos.

It's almost like we've learned we can't sign 7 players with no Premier League experience and expect them to gel straight away ...

;)
Did you Stoof Stamp the Dier transfer yet, because I've seen it on the OS but still not believing it till it's official ...

Bit of a shame re Falque, I thought when he replaced Lennon a few times for Europa matches he looked really good.

Think we can probably give Baldini a bit of credit on the Falque deal.
Having him sure opens up the Italian market for us.

hopefully we'll have more ITK on outs soon, we've far too big a squad imo and shifting fringe players will enable us to improve the squad with more 1st team signings or at least Dier type signings

I actually think the keeping Rose is good. Think the days last season of him being a banker starter when fit are over, and to get in he's going to have to up his game. Thankfully we have a former international level defender as head coach, who may be able to mould that potential shown at Sunderland into a competent PL defender. Home grown, so all good. For the a ame reasons I'd keep Naughton over signing Lopes. 4 of our HG quota all wrapped up in only 2 positions, leaving the foreign contingent free to fill the gaps elsewhere.
Onto the signing. I like the sound of Dier, but wonder how this goys on with Ali Z's insistence that Lascalles was pretty much done and dusted? If we sign him too, that must suggest the end for more than just Dawson. I'd hoped for a natural LCB so we get the right balance, quick google search suggests Dier is CB/DM also capable at RB, but actually comfortable with both feet, so may well fit in as LCB. Good price too.
Kaboul/Chiriches
Vertonghen/Dier
I think a good preseason and Kaboul will hopefully find his form and fitness. A proper LB and DM for support, and Jan may also rediscover his mojo.
Dawson to go?
Schneiderlin and Rodriguez hopefully in. Few more outs to balance the numbers, Sandro, maybe Paulinho gets sacrificed?
I'm more confident than I have been for some time.

From complete unknown to rock and future captain, god bless Spurs Community. :angelic:
Works both ways. Ars fans told me Dier is a great player and will be snapped up by one of the top teams. But now all of sudden Dier is average and will struggle with the pace of the Prem.

The Koeman quotes about schneiderlin after their preseason game sounded less then convincing, pretty guarded and make me think that he will be our player

Well we've shifted out Gomes, Livermore, Siggy & Falque so far, with Carroll looking likely to go on loan and Naughton seemingly having Saints as an option. Benny has been frozen out of the squad so he'll be gone come season start one way or another.

I would imagine that Dier in means we can offload Dawson now, which really only then leaves one of our midfielders to go if we buy MS.

Total squad would then be 25 players by my reckoning - which is pretty much spot on where it should be.
