I disagree I'd rather have Crouch...everyone seams to forget he scored the goals that got us through the qualifiers and into the champs league... He can also retain posession unlike Pav... Pav is a good sub to have but if we can get better not bothered if he goes...

eh? ManUtd game!

Pav is crap. Crouch at least is useful off the bench

So which is it?

Does make sense from HR. Crouch is by far the more accomplished striker and needs to start finding the back of the net again plus he does link up well with VDV and we know that him and JD can play together, so as much as he's not everyones cup of cha, he will stay in favour of Pav, im sure.

I did get a message last night, saying "nothing to report", which only means from my perspective that we are no where near a signing, YET.

You genuinely believe Crouch is a more accomplished ST? I don't see it. And he is hardly prolific, this spell I assume is his current worst.

Pienaar is cover for VDV, both directly or by taking Modric's place in midfield allowing Modric to move to VDV's position. That's in addition to covering both wings - Pienaar is going to be really important to us.

Pienaar won't work as cover for VDV. We have two players who can score, VDV and Bale. Pienaar has a very poor goal scoring record- something akin to Lennon's.

I could more see him playing some away games instead of Lennon poss wih Lennon as sub. Lennon often seems to do little away from home and Pienaar is busier.

Nice round up A&C.

Looking forward to more madness today.

Hoping for one of the two strikers to sign today. That really would make my week.

I honestly dont care who we sell between Crouch and Pav.

Crouch is hard working and offers us something unique. Pav is technically very good and scores goals, but goes missing. In the long run I hope we replace both of them tbh.

Suarez for Pav would be most ideal in this window though. At least Crouch could offer something in the CL, plus he works well with both Defoe and VDV. Then in the summer I would replace Crouch with a young promising number 9 like Kalinic/Wolfswinkel/Carroll/Lukaku(the dream one).

If we end up with Fabiano instead of Suarez then i'll be really dissapointed. Not least if we lose out to Liverpool. The only alternatives i'd be happy with (aside from the obvious dream signings) would be Vucinic or Cavani.

Doubt we'll sign anyone today. In fact I'm willing to bet the rest of our business will go down to the wire. It wouldn't be transfer deadline day if we weren't scrambling about trying our best to sign a striker.

Crouch is poor. 1 league goal in 21 games, disgusting. He has no strikers instinct at all, he never gambles and just cant shoot properly.

Pav is very hot and cold BUT at least he can SCORE!

Crouch is one of the worst strikers I've ever had the misfortune of watching. Weak, no vision, no intelligence, no finishing ability and for his height pretty crap in the air.

And for those who say he doesn't ask for the ball to be lumped, it's not his fault etc that is WRONG. In every game we play he always calls for the ball to be lumped to him.

Crouch's level is Portsmouth not a club like Spurs and it saddens me that Arry's love affair with him is costing us points every match.

If we got someone like Suarez, at least he could play out wide. So if say VDV is missing then we just go something like...

Palacios----Pienaar
Modric
Suarez-----------------Bale
Defoe

So we effectively replace VDV with Defoe. We can easily switch from 4-4-1-1 back to 4-4-2 aswell if need be.

I agree with pretty much everything you have said in bold.

We really should be looking to replace both Pav and Crouch in the coming windows as although both can be great on their day, but they are far too hit and miss to allow us to compete at the very top table.

I hope Harry and Levy have got something up their sleeve before Friday, as currently our inability to convert chances is costing us point and allowing the rest of the pack to pull further away from us.

In every single match we play, our strikers are costing us.

If you look at games where we have dropped points. You will notice our strikers have missed a series of great chances in those games. Unless we add a quality striker, it's game over.

Look at how uninvolved our strikers are in our passing game. We need a striker who has skill and can get involved.

Defoe isn't much better either actually

Although i'd keep Defoe in the squad.

Just wrong on every level. I'm willing to bet that Crouch has been involved in far more of our goals this season than Pav.

Yes his goalscoring form is poor and yes if we can improve on him we should but to say he's 'disgusting' or 'one of the worst strikers you've seen' suggests a wider misunderstanding of the entire game.

agreed strikers should be our main priority if Harry thinks the one we have are good enough we have got problems imo

Defoe has pace and good movement, we need those qualities far more than Brahmins Crouch or hot and cold Pav.

I'd sell Crouch and Keane and bring in Suarez.

Or it suggests I know what I'm talking about since our win ratio with Crouch in the team is lower than when Defoe or Pav play. So it's actually a FACT that when Crouch plays we win less matches and drop more points.

And why? Because Crouch is not a proper striker, he has no instinct at all and when he plays we revert to hoof football far too much, which does not suit our best players.

I understand why people stand up for Crouch, he does have a lovely goofy smile which comes out everytime he misses (all the time!) and makes me want to hit him.
