I see liverpool are linked with turning their attentions now to lukaku. No harm to Suarez but it's someone like lukaku that we need. He would be ideal in our system, and if fabiano joined he would be the prefect tutor for lukaku.

Hasn't Lukaku already said that he won't be moving in this window? I thought his dad had advised him to stay where he is at least until the summer so that he could develop his game.

Like I posted yesterday, that last post by CristuanBaler is spot on. Keane will go somewhere that has no bearing whatsoever on what we do.
The key is that we are looking seriously at centre forwards and will attempt to bring one in. If that is the case then A.N Other striker will move on, be it now or in the summer. Alas leaving 3 +1

Thanks Ryan. It sounds like VDV was essentially Keanes replacement and we probably would have let him go in the last window if the VDV deal hadn't been so last minute.

i think everyone who is not harry agree that crouch is terrible. If choice between pav or crouch out keep the pav!

Pav is the better player (or at least a better goal scorer), but if we sign a new striker then neither he or Crouch will get much game time in the league. Crouch still seems quite effective in Europe so may-be we should keep him for that? And wouldn't we get a lot more money for Pav than Crouch? Any ideas how much Crouch is worth anyone?

I think we'll keep crouch, if only to play in the CL and come on to defend a lead. The ITK about Harry only wanting 3 strikers on the books seems perfectly sensible. Even in that scenario, with 3 strikers and vdV, we might struggle to keep everyone happy as happened with Defoe, Keane, Berbatov and Bent. We might even be able to get by with two strikers and vdV as Modric or Pienaar could play the support striker role at a push.

Anyway, what seems clear is that we're still lacking someone who can play up front in their own. VdV wanders a lot and sometimes Bale, Modric and Lennon only have on striker to hit. That striker will need to be able to cope with that situation, with strength/technique to hold up the ball or fantastic movement or a great scoring ability. Preferably all three. There are still question mark over whether Suarez, who generally playwright as a support striker or winger, can perform this role as effectively as we need.

Does make sense from HR. Crouch is by far the more accomplished striker and needs to start finding the back of the net again plus he does link up well with VDV and we know that him and JD can play together, so as much as he's not everyones cup of cha, he will stay in favour of Pav, im sure.

I did get a message last night, saying "nothing to report", which only means from my perspective that we are no where near a signing, YET.

Losing Pav and Keane would be no loss really. As long as we had some form of replacements.Pav for me will always be hit and miss and will never fulfill his potential. One minute scores a wonder goal the next the balls bounced of his knee cap past harry redknapp and the coaches down the tunnel. When he is bad he is awful!

Glad to see A&C finally getting of his lazy useless arse to do a long long long overdue roundup. Unfortunately I have to report that the reason for this delay was that A&C was on strike. This is perhaps unsurprising because we all know that A&C is a good for nothing Commie with Lenin posters on his walls but it was his demands for an extra 5p a day and a daily supply of hobnobs that was unbelievable.

Fortunately our chief negotiator (Bill Oddie) stepped in following his success with the Malaysian ladyboy strike of 2009 and has bartered A&C down to 3p a day and a rich tea biscuit with his morning cuppa. Hopefully that will keep the raging lefty happy until the end of the window.

If not the updates will have to be done by Bomber, and although they'd be more naked they'd also be quite alot further from the truth.

Anyway...good morning ITK thread!

Wait a minute. Doesnt that mean we need cover for VDV?

Unless, tell me if this is crazy, we try for Suarez who may be able to play both as the main striker and as a number 10!

Pienaar is cover for VDV, both directly or by taking Modric's place in midfield allowing Modric to move to VDV's position. That's in addition to covering both wings - Pienaar is going to be really important to us.

Any predictions for who we may sign or sell today?

I am going for David Beckham or Ashley Young or Robbie Keane
