I know everyone seems to want a striker but I think it much more important that we buy a wide forward player and a playmaker. Kane is the undisputed number 9 but I am not sure I could take going into the new season with Lamela/Chadli/Townsend on the wings
Ideally, I would like a pacy player that can equally fulfil the role of striker/wf. Someone of the Danny Ings mould, but hopefully even better.

For the last few years, periods of quiet have normally been because things are being worked on in the background and cards are being kept close to chests. Doesn't help while away the hours at work though :bored:
Still think we'll get a CM/DM of some description + a striker. It'd be great if they came in the next week, but not holding my breath. Pretty pleased with our business so far though (y)

To be fair Daniel Levy did say in his interview last week that we should expect more transfer activity but not straight away necessarily, and hinted it may be much later in the window. Doesn't stop me trawling the internet though when I could be doing something useful...

When he said "not straight away" did he mean next year or the year after?

We also need to raise some money and free up squad places and wages.

We are currently back to where we started - 3 in, 3 out and zero net spend. Our squad is still about 6 too big at 31 senior players.

Basically I don't think we'll see any incomings till Stambouli, Chiriches and Lennon are all gone and we are c.18-20m in the black again.

And what happens if Kane gets injured or his form dips? We most certainly need a striker possibly two and have done for 3 seasons.

I'm not saying we couldn't do with a striker as an alternative but I would prefer improving the first team as a priority

We need to get some ins and quickly as we've only strengthened the defence for a 2nd season running and despite Paulinho, Capoue, Holtby and Stambouli's? performance issues we've drastically reduced the potential quality and options in central midfield. We were shocking at times last season centrally, out wide and up top when Kane either had a quiet patch or no service. Next season Kane will be a marked man and I worry unless we bring in a quality central midfielder and a wide forward/striker. The fact we keep hearing 'nothing for a few weeks' implies we're once again looking for end of window bargains.

Perhaps the lack of ITK is ITK. In itself. Yes we have lost Capoue, Holtby, poss Stambouli and Pauli but we've gained two new midfielders in Pritch and Alli, both of whom are an improvement and quality players. Yes we needed a DM to supplement last seasons squad but based on what Poch has in front of him now it maybe that we may play in an entirely new system to accommodate the current squad. We could go three at the back, we could go four three three, Poch may fancy a diamond. Last season we needed a wing forward and DM but who knows what we are looking for now.

Or we are just pissing about getting nothing done, what do I know....

Historically when there's been no itk it's because nothing is currently happening. Doesn't rule out a bolt out of the blue signing though obviously.

Levy himself said he expected nothing to really happen until the end of the window thigh didn't he. Aka the usual.

I know ITK has stated that we can buy without having to sell first, but I believe this is only true to an extent. I think it means that we need to ship out some, but not all, of our desired outgoings before we can do further signings. Kaboul, Lennon are not even in training, Stambouli, Chiriches heavily linked with moves, and I've suggested that it's too early in the window to even think about Ade leaving. Gotta be patient for the next batch of signings.

Kaboul and Ade will bring no income (other than a year saved wages).

Chiriches, Stambouli and Lennon (plus possibly Soldado and/or Dembele) are the ones that need to start going to lubricate some incomings.

It's all about redistributing wage expenditure this summer.

Someone (@dovahkiin) go and whore it around on COYS. I would but I was banned for being too awesome/suggesting that someone only had brown eyes because they were so full of shit
I would but I got banned for sarcasm....apparently that constitutes 'playing the man, not the ball'
Completely true story.

Nowt in their "bits of info" thread. Just the Brook House and Ntep cryptic.

Slow day and I expect more of the same, but I'm an optimist:ROFLMAO:
