Off topic, i bet you (and no it wasn't me!) that Joanna Yeates was killed by her boyfriend, and his alibi is covering for him. Just seems so obvious to me!

Anyway COYS

Woah, that is off-topic. Imagine that, murder ITK!:eek:mg:

Let's face it, if you were allowed to place bets on murder inquiries, you would almost always put your money on the boyfriend...

The fact that Dan Ashcroft is so anti Carroll makes me think he would be a good signing

I can't help thinking Storts has got the wrong end of the stick re Llorente or something has not been translated properly. He is going to Madrid but although he wasn't initially highly rated he certainly is now and has a 30 mill + euros by out clause. He has managed to play internationals for Spain and was at the World cup so I think he has experience outside his comfort zone.

Re storts info .... we think he may be too weak for the prem? He's built like a brick sh*thouse! Seems a little odd to me.

I don't get it ... we've been told that we have loads of cash to spend, so why not throw it at Barrios instead of considering the cheaper option of Cardozo?

If we think Pavs and Crouch are strong enough for the prem and Llorente is too weak then perhaps the problem lies at Spurs.

They'd know by now if it was him. Too obvious. i expect he would have been the 1st person they would try to rule out...

anyway...

To be honest, while I like the look of Llorente, I also wanted Negredo a year ago. So I can understand the clubs hesitation to move for him.

Bundesliga is a good league to look at though, as I think their football is a good fit for the Premier League. I know little of Barrios, but if he's great in Bundesliga i'm sure there's a good chance he would be in England too.

Cardozo underwhelms me.

Both Barrios and Cardozo are on the shortlist with Carroll and Llorente as well, definitelty keeping our options open

I don't rate Cardozo or Carroll, but at least all 4 are the right type of players - i.e. big #9s in their mid-20s who score enough to play as lone forwards ahead of vdV.

IMO: Llorente > Barrios > Carroll > Cardozo

He didn't exactly make much of an impact though did he? And let's face it, coming into that side is like coming on for the Harlem Globetrotters at the moment, you dominate the opposition so much, you are bound to have confidence.

Don't get me wrong, I think the boy is a talent, and he may well shine at Real if the move happens. Ascertaining whether someone has the mental strength to move to another league and country is difficult skill for sure, all about fine judgement calls, especially with the sort of money top players command these days.

Carroll should be seen as a crouch replacement imo, not our number1 striker.

That is a bit unfair on Carroll, cos you know...he scores goals, unlike 3 metre Peter.

And before you say "Crouchie has loads of CL goals this year", I can't imagine the sort of damage Carroll would inflict on some of the weaker defences in the CL. They would be having nightmares for months afterwards.

I fail to see how Llorente can possibly described as weak and I would see him being a perfect fit for the Premier League and obviously more importantly for us.

Barrios could well be a great move and could be another Berbatov in that he is relatively unknown over here but would shine at our a club like ours and propel him into the elite striker territory. I admit to have seen little of him but from what others have said and his record for Dortmund I'd certainly support any potential bid.

Carroll I do like, and would fit into our ethos of trying to promote young British talent. It's been well documented his speculative transfer value that Newcastle attribute him so purely looking at him playing wise I'm sure would score plenty of goals from what we provide. It also makes us a huge threat at set pieces with him, Kaboul and Dawson all great headers of the ball - it's something that's been missing in our armoury for as long as I can remember.

Really? That's quite cool in a non-morbid, non-sick way (if that makes sense!)

I just find it weird that whilst he was away at 'family' they did not text or ring each other for 2/3 days, esp during the run up to xmas etc.

Also when she was only missing, and not found dead yet. He always spoke about her in the past tense, as if he already knew she was dead

Also think his family would cover for him for one reason or another

I reckon as well (hope he didnt, cos the old bill will be knocking on my door!) she was strangled with the missing sock!

RIP Joanna

I've got say I feel a little bit unconvinced by Llorente and have been surprised by some peoples bullish belief that he was the answer to our uber striker question. Not that he hasn't got ability and could be decent, I just wondered how he'd stand up in the quicker, much more robust EPL.

Carroll has more than a touch of the Mark Hateleys about him, which is no bad thing.

ryantegan's update seems pretty standard. We seem to have a pretty set plan that's being reflected from a number of sources. Surprised there's been no update on Becks yet though. Even a bit of elaboration from POTL
