3 days till the window opens and already we've entered the world of madness. I love transfer windows, just hope I make it through this one.

If we get Moutinho, the only piece of the puzzle left is a player who can play up front and provide goals out wide from the right. Moutinho rounds out the First XI nicely from our defense through midfield.

Very promising to see the players we are keen on, though. Even if just one of them comes off we will greatly improve our odds of solidifying our Champions League spot.

No, the Wesley rumour mill to us has been dotting about through various agents, news outlets, but it's just picked up lately, every day is working days for football clubs. It's just now Porto don't know whether it's smokescreen or genuine interest, and with them having Hector Herrera lined up for 9 million they realise that as JM is insistent to work with AVB again, they don't have many options.

That clearer mate?

Haven't there been reports that Herrera now isn't as done as most thought with Man United jumping in and prepared to up the bid? I thought that made the most sense looking at why Moutinho would be on his way out as they found his heir apparent, but if Man United jack the bid and take Herrera, would that force Porto's hand into keeping him or would they be comfortable with Defour in Moutinho's role?

Thanks for your info and responses, I know you're just the messenger and feeding off info given to you but I'm very sceptical. Ok, I understand turning down Zenit and even PSG due to the fact that they have a million midfielders already. If Chelsea were interested though I think he'd go for it. They can offer him so much more than we can and even if it weren't money related they would offer him first team football as he'd be perfect alongside Ramires in the centre.

All I can say is that he really must love AVB......a lot.

But nonetheless, thanks for the info. (y)

Chelsea have got more midfielders than anyone,,,

All ITK I've seen indicates that everyone in the decision making process knows exactly what we're missing: a brain in the attacking midfield role. I'd happily take any of those mentioned in the latest update, throw in a striker too and we could be a real force in the second half of the season. We aren't far off.

United want a summer deal whereas Porto could use the funds from JM's sale to force a move through in January with a bit more dosh. If they sell JM in Jan and don't sign anyone they'll be exactly like us, fine to a certain extent but have a player lacking that is clearly apparent.

Here's something I don't know whether to find hilarious or ****ish.

Chelsea are still using AVB's scouting reports he compiled for transfer targets from November to January.

Dont suprise me on bit. Its obvious we knew this ages ago to since we did try get in Oscar early, but Chelsea jumped in and blew us out the water.
So seeing them linked with Moutinho and Willian shouldnt suprise anyone, hopefully we ship AvB off to south america again this summer to make new ones!

Anybody else finding this latest Moutinho stuff just as hard to believe as the Sneijder guff?

Porto made a few sales last year that equate to almost 70m of cash in-hand. They spent about 10m of that on Jackson Martinez and a couple of other players. I have a really hard time thinking that they need money from Moutinho to do anything unless they have financial issues. Also, the sale of Moutinho should hold no weight on if they get Herrera. They've made about as much money on sales over the past year as anyone. I want to believe, but it's in the best interest of my still-mending heart to be at least somewhat skeptical.

Yeah I don't know a whole lot about their finances. They could be like Udinese, really depending on player sales to balance the budget, but I'd be surprised if they needed to sell Moutinho in Jan or in the summer even.

And unlike Udinese they participate in CL every season and also winning the league often enough, so should have funds unless their players are all on stupid wages or some old debt, but have no clue about that.

I think it's probably more along of the lines of they have a player who knows he is wanted, probably isnt fully focused on Porto and wants to work wit avb, rather than it being they need to sell him for financial reasons.

See that does make sense to me. I think Herrera is a real possibility for an heir apparent, and Defour can step in for now until he is ready.

I also think it's valuable that Moutinho isn't necessarily young. He's 26, and perhaps he's ready to make the move to a bigger league on a bigger stage. He could have that security of knowing that while he's making the switch he would have AVB fully backing him and helping him ease into a whole different type of game. That makes the most sense to me why Moutinho would be voicing his desire to move on and presumably limiting it to just Tottenham as a potential landing spot.

Am I the only one that would prefer sneijder to moutinho? I would expect both to be at the top of our wage structure but sneijder to be had for a lower transfer fee. Sneijder + a young winger for me, please

WS should give us something like 3 solid years, and hopefully by then we would be a solid fixture in the CL giving us more cash and more clout in signing star players. And with the imminence of a new stadium then, that would really be the start of a new dynasty.

I've stated that it might make more sense for this squad to get Sneijder. He can still pull the strings and dish out beautiful passes, but the goals he would provide are something that Moutinho necessarily would not. If we want to make one purchase to help solidify the squad on the whole, then it should be a player like Sneijder who will add goals and craft.

To me, Moutinho would solidify our midfield to absolutely dominate games home or away in the toughest of venues. But there would be added pressure to have goals coming from our front 3 positions because realistically, Moutinho/Dembele/Sandro might range anywhere from 10-12 goals a season (that actually might be a bit on the high side).

Sneijder? voted 3rd best player in the world a couple of years ago? He might be all right I s'pose.

Tbh, I don't care who we get as long as we get CL next year.
