After Davies' comments about the players used by Nuno in Europe feeling like a B team we can't afford to do much beyond being as strong as we can be. Some changes need to be made with suspensions and injuries but not too many.

Lloris
Emerson Rodon Dier Davies Doherty
Skipp Winks
Bergwijn Kane Son

We have to continue building momentum. Sacking this game off will not help at all. There is no guarantee we go through but the mentality we set will have a big say moving forward.

Some rotation is necessary but now wholesale changes for me.

Lloris

Sanchez
Rodon
Davies

Doherty
Skipp/PEH
Winks
Reguillon

Lucas
Kane
Bergwijn

I don't mind us going out of the competition but we cannot throw the second string out and have a shambles, our record under Conte is solid in the league so far. Another win and clean sheet would be great.

Gollini
Tanganga Rodon Fagan-Walcott
Doherty Ndombele Winks Sessegnon
Markanday Scarlett Gil

John, Lavinier, White, Omole and Clarke all coming off the bench.
Let's see if any of the u23s can standout and force their way into consideration for first team squad, they're doing brilliant at their level. I'd rather we went out of this comp to give Conte better chance of getting us top 4.

Want to see Gil, if healthy, given more game time on the left where he's impressed compared to when on the right.

They have already qualified top so are likely to bring a weakened side themselves.

Conte clearly has a preferred 11 atm and this is going to be one of the few remaining games to give opportunities to others, I think we need to and the kids deserve that more than some more of the experienced players. Though I suspect Dele and Co will be given the nod.

Rennes went 2nd in the league with their 0-5 destruction of St Eteinne, with Terrier bagging a hattrick. They are certainly no mugs but having wrapped up our group they ought to rest a few.

The LWB position will be interesting.
Sess is suspended, Regui is injured and JT offers for me not enough attacking threat in a must win game.

I think we will use Davies, even though we could do with him as LCB.

What would i do? Probably go for it and use Bergwijn here. Davies should cover and put Skipp next to him too.

So thats my line up:

-----------Lloris----------
----Sanchez-Dier-Davies-----
Doherty-Ndombele-Skipp-Bergwijn
--------Lucas---Son-------
-----------Kane----------

Subs: Gollini, Rodon, Tanganga, Hojbjerg, Lo Celso, Winks, Dele, Scarlett, Markanday, (+2, Bryan and Emerson or White and Clarke)

Would also consider to start either Kane or Son of the bench as the next weeks they will be needed all the time, but it would obviously really harm our quality as no player off the bench showed he is up for it.
Maybe go 3-5-2 with Winks instead of Son/Kane.

My original thread, I was putting out our strongest team but I have second thoughts and except for Lloris who must start, I would rotate to avoid injuries and prioritize Sunday against Brighton.

I would be tempted to give Dier, Skipp, Davies and Son a rest if we can, otherwise go strong.

Hugo
Sanchez, Rodon, Tanganga
Royal, PEH, Winks, Doherty
Lucas, Kane, Bergwijn

Make full use of all 5 subs to try and help keep the starters fresh for Brighton.

Why is it a must win game?

Same. Brighton have so many injuries we need to beat them big and continue are resurgence in the league.

Does Sessegnon get banned for 2 yellows? Presuming he does.

I know its a must win game, but we can't afford to risk BOTH Kane & Son, only one of them should start imo.

Play the second string and see what happens.
No! Winning something- anything is better than what we have done and this winning habit can carry over to other matches
Lloris
Sanchez Rodon Davies Doherty Emerson winks Ndombele Dele Lucas Bergwijn
That's one hell of a defence
I'm now happy to sack this off. Only negative is we won't get the enough coefficient points expected this season and that will come into play in 2 years with the new rules
See above- we shouldn't throw any games. Poch used to not care and maybe if he did we might have won something during his time

Conte ain't going to accept but a WIN
Back him or lose him (I said this before)

I don't see it as throwing this game just prioritising Sunday's game. We'll try to win it but we ought not throw everything at it to win.
