What do we actually need to do to progress?

Even if we win, we still might go out
We need to match Vitesse's result to finish 2nd.

If we both win it will go down to goal difference, and we are ahead for now. Could change if they score a few against Mura

Would it be the worst outcome if we did get knocked out? Conte would get more time to work with the players without the mid-week prep for ECL games. I'm only truly advocating for this because we have a real chance at Top 4 and the sooner the players understand his philosophy, the better our odds of having a pretty good end to our season.

I'm in two minds about this game, If I'm really honest I wouldn't mind if we go out of this competition and that keeps Conte 6 months of 1 game a week to really develop the team tactically and fitness levels and I think that may have a huge benefit heading into next season and also hopefully in the top4 race this season. If we stay in we may win a trophy which would be nice but I fear the squad will get stretched too thin competing on so many fronts. I much prefer focusing the energy on the league. On the other hand if we have a poor result then there will be a lot of disdain for our fringe players who I'd argue are still trying to find their way under Conte.

Regardless I'd probably go with this team:

Gollini
Sanchez Tanganga Rodon Davies
Doherty Winks Ndombele Sessegnon Tanganga
Gill Bergwijn Dele

Hopefully Gill is fit again, personally I'd prefer Scarlett or Markanday over playing one of the 3 regulars but if I had to choose one, it'd be Kane.

Edit forgot about Sess being suspended, In that case I'd give Tanganga LWB Spot and play Sanchez RWB

Would love to go out of this, we would benefit so much from the extra training and recovery time.

Sess can't play, sent off vs Mura.

This. It's clear our "B" team doesn't really have the quality or they don't care enough to show up for these ECL games. I don't want to see the likes of Son, Skipp etc being run down having to play all these extra games, when we have a strong chance ( especially with our December fixtures ) to climb the table.

Beat Rennes to keep our momentum going. Go out on goal difference in order to have a go at the top 4 and the domestic trophies.

Or beat Rennes and give some of our youth, game time in the two extra playoff games.

I’ve supported Spurs for 30 years and we’ve won two league cups, so I’m all for playing the strongest team and winning this competition.

Don't know what we should do. We've got a few niggles, and a few players that we could really do without picking up a niggle. This is a problem entirely of our own making, we really should have been putting out a scratch side in a dead rubber.

Please stop with the loser talk about wanting out. Anyone who say so certainly should shut up about ENIC hardly winning trophies.
