For me it's time to bin it off. Conte needs as much time as possible on training ground with them so going out will mean a lot of weeks where it's only 1 game pw.
It's all about the league for me this season, getting top 4 would have such a massive impact on us for summer window and maybe finally getting a stadium naming rights deal I would gladly bin off.the competition to help that.

Telegraph says a 7th player has tested positive this morning. I know it'll have to go ahead, but it's a stupid rule from UEFA. The idea that up to 12 senior players plus any number of staff, youth etc could be infected at the same time and it should still be played is madness, a surefire way to make the situation worse.

I agree. Zero point in playing it. Play full kids and everyone stays on the training ground.

focus on the league. If we are around 4th in jan the conversations are much easier with good players as we can say help us get champs league.

Given we'd need to play 9 additional games if we got to the final, half of them all around Europe, plus other cup commitments...getting knocked out early could be a blessing.

Even if we win the thing, as great as it would be to see the players lift a trophy and get that monkey off our backs, it will always come with the caveat "yeah but it's a joke competition".

If Conte thinks that winning something is vital to the mentality of the players going forward then fine, but if not let's just bin it off and go all out for 4th.

This is very much worst-case-scenario territory, not at all likely. But if the outbreak worsened and the game did have to be postponed, there's a hard deadline of December 31st for the Group Stage to finish. The only date I can see where both clubs would just about be available (at least one free day either side of the game, and not in the middle of the French winter break) is Christmas Eve...

Could also make things easier in a way for us because we'd know exactly what we needed rather than having to keep half an eye on the Vitesse match. For instance, if they did manage to lose 1-0 to Mura, we'd need to make sure we let in at least 4 so we could go out of this fucking thing

Nah at least play the kids, which is what I’m hoping for.
I can see vitesse putting at least 4/5 past Mura and even if we could played our first 11 I don’t see us matching that. Play the kids and let conte have the extra days off for the training pitch

We've already forfeited the European Dustbin League by playing like the team from the RNIB at Mura and losing a game we could and should have won at a canter.

This is the time for pragmatism. If we have to play Rennes on Thursday, put a bunch of kids out and get done 0-5 and then we can put all our energies into getting that 4th spot which will piss so many people off, it'll be hysterical.
