Not sure about playing Sanchez, don’t Wycombe have a big bruiser playing up top who’ll eat him for breakfast?

We have no one that can match Akinfenwa's body strength, we have to cope with him in other ways.

Rodon and Toby sounds to me like a reasonable partnership against him. How to cope with him in other ways when they play the ball high up to Akinfenwa all the time. Need Tobys experience and Rodons physicality I think.

Anyone going into Akinfenwa will be pushed around, let him have the ball but be close enough to stress him as he's a very limited player.

Agree. He doesn’t normally start games anyway and he has 0 goals and assists this season

Stop worrying about Akinfenwa.

It's embarrassing.
Flashbacks to when he and Paul Hayes, the slowest strike duo on Planet Earth, bullied and outpaced (!) CCV four years ago.

Thankfully, and no offence to our American followers, no matter who plays in defence for us they're a lot better players than CCV. Akinfenwa is not the problem.

Daryl Horgan, Gareth McCleary and Uche Ikpeazu (if he plays, he has had a lot of injuries) is a half-decent front line though, one we will have to be careful around but we should absolutely not be worried about them.

We're not seriously worrying about 38 year old Akinfenwa, a striker who last scored a goal on 29th February 2020, and has the agility of a
listing cargo ship attempting a handbrake turn?

He's hardly Lewandowski, is he...

He's basically been a glorified hype man this season, for the worst team in the Championship. He can be a nuisance if you focus so much on him that you forget their wide attackers but come on, a squad of PL players should never make that mistake.

I'd imagine Reguilon and Aurier could comfortably outpace him while walking backwards

No disrespect to Wycombe but if we can't beat the last placed team in the Championship without Tanguy, then we have some really serious squad issues.

I’d sooner shit in my hands and clap than play Gazziniga
Have you heard Mourinho’s latest press conference? He said he wants a fan to shit in their hands and clap or he’s gonna play Gazzaniga. Take one for the team mate

Why didn't quote my entire post? The context was there for all to see. I didn't broach the subject of team mentality when facing lower opposition, I simply alluded to the fact team selection needs to be managed to protect our most important players from fatigue. You created this narrative in your head that I'm asking our team to take it easy against Wycombe when you know we have a truncated season and players that need minutes to deal with those upcoming fixtures. You must be fishing for reactions, so I'll give you a creative for that effort.
