If true, I'm inclined to agree. While I think it's paramount we pick up three points against Villa, I think we can take advantage of their current state without Lamela and be more likely to be at better strength for Arse.
So he gets booked at arse and we lost him West Ham? Or Chelsea? I'd play him against villa. He will get boomed for a stupid tackle from behind anyway. Get it out the way. Not sure id play him vs Arse

I'd definitely want Lamela available for the NLD. With that big playing surface at the Emirates Lamela's workrate and pressing would be hugely missed if he was suspended.

Besides, for as long as Chadli and Son are both out our options are pretty limited. I'm not a fan of Townsend and certainly don't see him being effective away to one of the CL teams, in either defense or attack.

The bigger question is will bentaleb return to the team. We sure aren't missing him and he has to beat Ali Mason and now Dembele for a starting place. Good for the team but id rather know Son was fit

Reason for asking is twofold (a) its been a month since we were told Bentaleb was close, so I was expecting that either he could be in the squad for Villa or Anderlecht or alternatively there was a bigger problem and a longer delay and (b) Whilst we have reasonable cover at CM, we need bodies to help rotate and save the squad becoming fatigued So on both counts @Trix news was very welcome.

Whilst Son is very important to get back, the last news we had was that he wouldn't be back for 3 weeks which would make him a possible for NLD but very unlikely now - if Trix is right and he can make an appearance earlier than that schedule I'm delighted - and gobsmacked as most injured players come back late not early !

id save lamela for the nld since his pressing is most needed then, plus i want to see him get some good meaty hacks in on monreal. otherwise i like the shout for dembele to start over dier to manage his minutes, but i fully expect to see a full strength side against villa.

It's a difficult one with Lamela being on 4 Yellow cards, Pritchard, Chadli & Son being injured and having 3 games in 6 days, including an important EL game and Arsenal.

I would be tempted to rest Lamela, making sure he isn't suspended for Arsenal, so I would probably go:

Lloris
Walker Toby Verts Rose
Dier Alli
Njie Mason Eriksen
Kane
Then for the Anderlecht

Lloris
Trippier Toby Wimmer Davies
Dembele Alli
Lamela Onomah Townsend
Njie
Take Lamela off at around 60 mins for Eriksen (putting Andros AMR and Eriksen AML, allowing) and bring Son on (if fit).

And for Arsenal (If Son not fit, swap for Dembele and put him AMR and move Eriksen AML and Lamela AMC)

Lloris
Walker Toby Verts Rose
Dier Mason
Lamela Eriksen Son
Kane

Maybe its just me, but I'm so unused to a manager saying a maximum time a player will be out I assume he means 'minimum'. :):)
Yeah, It is a bit odd. Hopefully he is correct and hasn't just used the wrong words with English being his second language.

I'm not sure, heard quite a few saying 'no longer than x amount of weeks'...like Martinez on Jagielka the other day.
