I know what you mean, and I’m not a massive Hojbjerg fan but I think it’s sensible. Biss and Gio will need some help in there to get control, it just doesn’t feel like a game for Gil, I think he’ll get bullied out of it by Walker and it’ll feel like playing with a man less.

Despite my long term feelings on Gil I would like to see him given a chance and a run, I just do t think this is the game for Bryan. I actually feel in this one particular game his presence would limit us more than Hojbjergs.
I get what you’re saying from a width perspective but for me the ability to move the ball quickly from defence into attack whilst also retaining possession in the middle of the park will be key. I know that he will be a physical presence but the lack of agility and technique against their midfield scares me a lot. The triangle of PEH, Davies and Royal could cause all sorts of problems when playing out from the goalkeeper.

Even if Biss is deepest and PEH is sitting ahead of him I still think PEH could be problematic. I don’t even dislike PEH but in a game like this where controlling the ball in the midfield will be key im concerned. Hopefully he has a storming game.

Keller
Carr Gardner Doherty Taricco
Anderton Brown King Davies
Postiga Keane

Things could be worse….
Would that team stay up in today’s PL?

Certainly would be a bottom half side.

Simon Davies, Anderton, Carr, King & Keane all pretty handy on their day though to be fair.

FWIW, I am not 100% sure on the team today, will explain more in the coming weeks and team news has been solid recently but some circumstances have changed and although I will still get some info, it won't be as reliable (if it ever was) as it used to be.

For me it’s a question of which matchup is the biggest mismatch.. Gil vs Walker or Hojbjerg vs City’s pressing. Both are pretty horrid matchups but at least with PEH in midfield we’ll have a winger in Johnson who can actually cause Walker a few problems. I think Gil would get swallowed by Walker tbh.

Edit- Gil it is then. Can’t see it going well tbh.

He's close to returning accordingly to Ange.

"Richy's probably the closest out of the ones who have been missing, so looking to get him involved in training hopefully tomorrow and then we'll see how he is as he's obviously missed a fair bit," said Postecoglou when speaking to Spursplay.

Thats the team I pretty much expected. Good to see Richarlison on the bench and nice to see so many academy kids there as well, though it does highlight how low we are on players. Would be great for one or two to get a debut.

I guess really it just highlights how unbalanced our options are with these injuries, with any luck a bit later me and you are both sitting here nodding slightly impressed that Gil and Hojbjerg somehow did enough 🤞

It was actually the team that played against City in the FA Cup tie in 2004. We got a replay then went 3 goals up by half time , City got a red card and went on to win 4-3. I was there . A complete nightmare. Hardly an all star City team either.
