Might it be worth putting Veliz up front for this one for his heading ability? It’s a long shot but would give us a genuine target for crosses and if he manages to bag one then even if we lose he’ll gain confidence for the upcoming fixtures where he’ll surely be called upon. I can see us getting chances but not being able to keep Haaland out as he’ll surely dominate anyone we can possibly play at the back.

Can we have a decent referee? Has been some games since.

Other than that:
Vic - Porro, Royal or Dier, Davies, Udogie - Bissouma, Sarr, Lo Celso - Kulusevski, Son, Johnson

Forster, Dorrington, Dier or Royal, Skipp, Höjberg, Donley, Gil, Veliz + one

Deki Lo Celso
Johnson Son Bryan

If Sarr is fit - I would start him at CM, and bench Bryan - pushing Deki back into the front 3 on the right. I think Ange signaled pretty clearly that he does not want Dier in the line-up (unless Dier has some kind of knock I am not aware of). I think Dier can still be an effective CB - just not in Ange's tactics. We will miss Dier's height and strength, but I think Royal's quickness/agility is just as important against Haaland.

Depends on Sarr really, if he’s fully fit he goes in and Kulu goes right with Biss replacing Bentancur and Gil dropping out. If he’s not fully fit, which I can’t help but feel will be the case, then we go with the same team as against Villa just with Biss in.

Who’s left?

Vicario, Porro, Emerson, Davies, Udogie, Bissouma, Lo Celso, Deki, Bryan, Son, Johnson.

Then what, Skipp, Dier, Veliz, Hojbjerg…do we still own Janssen?

Vicario, Porro, Emerson, Davies, Udogie, Bissouma, Lo Celso, Deki, Bryan, Son, Johnson.

Same team as vs Villa but Biss in for Bentancur.

Bench will be a state though.

This is the way.

But Deki belongs (eventually) in the middle of the park. We’ve been burned in the past with a midfield diamond, but we didn’t have the personnel. Perhaps we deploy a slightly altered 4 - 3 - 1 - 2 that looks like this up front:

Sarr - Biss - GLC
Deki
Son - Johnson

Definitely this team in lighf of all the news.

Still looks a strong midfield.

This sounds mad but we could really do with getting one of our customary shock very unexpected wins against City on Sunday.

Absolutely everything is against us right now and the odds are very much not in our favour to get any sort of result against City away with our B team CB’s and midfield but to halt this run of frankly unfair and undeserved losses I’d love us to pull a rabbit out the hat and we go up there and beat them.

Heart says an unlikely 2-3 Spurs win, head says Haaland will have a field day and could be very messy 6-1 City

Don't fancy Emerson or Davies to physically be able to handle Haaland, so who is our only CB left who his big enough that he might be able to physically challenge Haaland , guess who ? :)

Unfortunately I think Dier should probably play as we need height against set pieces, City are a team of giants - Emerson was all over the shop on crosses on Sunday.

I also think Bryan should drop out for this one, and shore up the middle with Sarr's running (if fit)

Vicario
Porro Dier Davies Udogie
Sarr Bissouma Gio
Kulu Son Brennan

We need to be really smart about how this game is going at halftime.

we have absolutely critical games 4 and 7 days later that are much more realistically winnable.

If we run Son, Kulu, GLC, Johnson (who seems on verge of hamstring tear every game) Udogie, etc into the ground Sunday it’s going to cost us 3 games instead of 1.

its an absolute nightmare but we really need to think about managing the paper thin squad that we have.

we really ought to be attempting the Arteta covid postponement here.

Agree with that, and if Sarr is out I would start Skipp.

I was with you until the last line. I don't ever want to be like Arteta...

Going with Dier's height, strength & knowhow at centre half. Due to a combined lack of pace, I don't think he can play with Davies, so Royal stays in the team instead.
And if Sarr isn't fit I'd probably go with Hojbjerg (doing his best Michael Brown impression) over Gil Vs City.
