Vicario
Going with Dier's height, strength & knowhow at centre half. Due to a combined lack of pace, I don't think he can play with Davies, so Royal stays in the team instead.
And if Sarr isn't fit I'd probably go with Hojbjerg (doing his best Michael Brown impression) over Gil Vs City.
This is spot on for me.

Be a good week for a no training straight into the game Ledley King game…

edit: posted early.

Sarr confirmed out now by Ange. God were bare bones.

Vicario
Porro Emerson Davies Udogie
Bissouma
Kulusevski ----- Lo Celso
Johnson -- Son -- Bryan

Subs - what subs???

Looks like a suicidal team in many ways and I get the calls for Dier and Hojbjerg but A) I think breaking up the CB partnership is not going to help and B) We'll play the same way no matter who we play and City will press us aggressively so might as well line up with lads who are nimble and decent at beating the press. If we had Conte or Jose in charge i'd have gone with Hojbjerg and Skipp over GLC and Bryan but we don't.

I think Ange will ultimately pick PEH over Bryan.

Main weakness there is that Doku will probably terrorise Porro but not a lot we can do without bringing Dier in at CB which causes us a different problem.

This is the only team it can be really. Would rather we start Gil again than start PEH. I know Gil vs Walker is a concern but PEH's lack of mobility in that midfield against City could really hamper us more IMO.

Looks like we're completely stuffed. Haarland will make absolute mincemeat of Davies and Emerson in the air, but he'll also make mincemeat of Dier on the ground. I hope Romero appreciates how much of a fucking huge spanner in the works his red mist sending off has brought about. Discipline has to be a load better than that.

I think we can cause them problems with that team but we will also be so so vunerable at the back.

4-2 City I think.

Same back 5,
Biss, PEH
Gio
July, Son, Brennan

We’ll get done probably by Doku, set pieces or whatever. But as long as it’s not a proper kickin it won’t matter.

Don’t know what some of you see in Gil- I’ve seen enough- powder puff

If we play Kulusevski in the middle and have BJ on the right with Davies and Porro we could get absolutely slaughtered. Doku, Haaland and Foden against our depleted team could get ugly fast.

I'm not saying we don't play this way, but I fear for us this weekend. We've basically lost our 4 best players this season.

Personally I'd go Royal, Dorrington, Dier, Udogie. But without Romero and VDV I am very worried whoever plays.

Doku vs Porro or Haaland vs Davies is a terrifying thought. For this game I'm less behind the sofa, more behind the TV.

One things for certain is it won't be 0-0.

What worries me about Gil is iis final ball, he looks good up until the point he has to create a chance or shoot and then he goes to pieces. But if he's not going to get his chance now, he never will.

He needs games, I'd play him, but I doubt he'll worry Walker.

Honestly no idea how we will line up on Sunday. I think on the whole the team that played last weekend did well so I could see him just sticking with it (with Bissouma likely in for Bentancur). I do really fear for us though with that defence vs Haaland and Doku because of their movement. We are also very weak on set-pieces so I could possibly see Dier coming in but to be honest I'd likely just stick with the entire back line we played vs Villa. We are likely going to get tonked hard regardless sadly.

If it's me picking the team, assuming same injuries as last week, then one change, Biss for Lolo. If Sarr is fit, he comes in for Bryan, and Deki goes back on the wing.

Think Ange has said Sarr is out.

So as you say same team as vs Villa but with Biss in for Bentancur.

He might play PEH and drop Gil and move Kulu back to RW.

I think we're certain to lose starting PEH.

Kulu was amazing central, Gill did well.

Biss for Bentancur and thats it.

Vicario
Porro - Royal - Davies - Udogie
Biss
PEH - GLC
Deki - Son - Johnson

Subs: Forster, Dier, Skipp, Gil, Veliz, Donley, Dorrington, Hall, Soonsup-Bell

I think Ange will go with PEH for this game and knowing our luck, he'll be the MOTM and help us beat City.

I think it's unfair to say we are certain to lose by starting PEH. Let's be honest , on paper we are certain to lose whoever we start in that position

Ok a bit yes.

But put it like this, i think we've a better chance of beating them, albeit still slim, with Kulu central and Gill out wide....than Kulu wide and PEH central.

We're not stopping them scoring and their weakest part of the team is defence...so look to exploit.

We produced some brillant stuff against Villa. We won't have Bentacur but Kulusevski central was just as significant.

Cause them problems, dont look to put the emphasis on containment with selecting PEH...that approach will see us get spanked.

Take them on, attack is most definitely the best form of defense for this anyway.

Does that make some sense....?

It's a fair enough logic but , against City, I fear it won't make that much difference and it always sounds personal when people talk about PEH or Dier /Davies as if they are going to be what costs us.
