Another game where the attacking players have to take the blame, absolutely woeful from them
Yup, Johnson and Kulusevski both played horrendously. If one of them put in even a 6/10 performance we win that. Both wide players offered fuck all. Took Porro pushing into right wing for us to end up offering something from wide. Ange’s system falls flat on its arse when the widemen play as poorly as that.

Don't know if they were knackered or what, but that was absolutely turgid. The lack of movement around the box was shocking in that half, way too many players just standing around waiting for someone else to make something happen.

It’s the miserable luck that we’ve had and officials clearly showing bias to our opponents since the Liverpool game that has really frustrated me (and it’s iterative, because the refs allowing other teams to kick us around while blowing for any slight push we do is what led to players like Bentancur getting injured again). We could genuinely be title contending right now otherwise.
You need to stop blaming the officials. That's not why we are dropping points.

We are just far too predictable against the low block, and if we are going to play this possession based high press that needs to change. Deki will always cut back, Johnson will always go on the outside, our forwards don't vary their runs enough, and we make exactly the same changes every game.

Lots of work to do here, or the season is over.
Absolutely, loving the football we play at times but need that killer instinct. Hopefully a bit of refresh in January.

That second half was bad.

Our front line is never going to do much against a low block is it? It’s an integral area we need to upgrade. Kulu, Son, Johnson, lots of whizz, little bang.

No one prepared to shoot or cross. Think we over work it at the moment. You can see from their first a hopeful shot falls nicely for Bowen.

Serves us right.
Entertaining but ineffective

It's interesting to see what happens from here.

Will we be another Brighton? Play some decent stuff, most of the time, but lingering around mid table?

Can’t keep blaming injuries. That team should have been good enough to beat West Ham at home
I'm putting a lot of blame on Kulu for this. Sad to say it, but I haven't rated him since the first half season. He's shown nothing since then, and then we went and bought him. Just slows down the game every single time. Shame.

I really like Richarlison, but he isn't the way forward for us. If he scores that header we probably go onto win the game. His work rate is great, but his end product is simply not good enough.

It’s going to get worse, Newcastle next and son biss and sarr off in Jan.

I said at the time after the Chelsea game that is our season over aside from the FA Cup.

I love Ange but he can’t do anymore with the injuries and squad issues we have. We just need to suck it up this season and hope to goodness we can make some signings in January ideally someone who can put the ball in the net.
I think we've been incredibly competitive since Chelsea given the absentees but tactically we were a bit toothless today. Apart from pressing we didn't do much.

Genuine question- how do the full backs being stationed so high up the pitch actually help us? Leaves us quite exposed and they just seem to clog up the pitch for the attackers. Give me an overlapping full back any day.

All fart and no shit.

We also seem to be in one of those runs where everything that can go wrong, will.

I knew this would be a lumpy, bumpy season.

We get punished for having no end product once again. I struggle to see what anyone sees in Gil, been clear from day one he's not good enough. Skipp is just a new Harry Winks with no clear thing he's particularly good at, championship footballer.

can't brake down teams sitting deep. if we don't score two/three goals within the first 20 we're fucked.. worst performance since the wolves game.

Horrible.

Two of the jammiest goals you’ll ever see. But we were dreadful up front. Johnson, Kulusevski and Son were woeful.

We are crying out for pace and Maddison.
I don't think their goals were that lucky. A clear tactic of Moyes to play higher up and wait for us to be lax or throw too many forward.

A typical West Ham esque win but the final third of our attacking play was lacklustre. Obviously feels like a steal but no point of getting too angry. Yet another learning curve with this current team.

I think bringing Skipp on only has worked once in this run of games and it was away at City. He is not quick enough on the ball when we are having most of the possession. He's a defensive sub.
He’s a useless sub. Championship player. Doesn’t change a game - never has.
