Really good in the first half but yet again we failed to manage and control the game. Against better sides we will get punished.

I'm not sure what it is and whether it is planned, but we have been doing it for ages. Its fine sitting back a bit when you are 2 up, but we seem to get cut through way to easily. In fairness to Brighton, Potter made some adjustments which we struggled to cope with.

Bissouma is a very, very good player.

Our 2 new lads did well I thought and will get better once they get used to the pace and physicality the prem.

Overall it was a good performance against a good team.

I’m surprised not to see more name checks for Romero on this thread. Arguably, he and Bissouma were the two best players on the pitch. We tend to focus on Brighton’s wayward finishing, because it is what is holding them back from being a really good football team, but tonight they had few shots, compared to the amount of sustained pressure they put on our box. That was largely down to Romero’s positional play, aggressiveness, tackling and ability to disrupt their attacks.
Whilst I agree Romero and Bissouma were class, your second sentence shows just how much Harry Kane is taken for granted

So, Bentacour is already nailed on for player of the year in the PL.

Jury is out on Kulu as he isn’t as quick as Bale.

Bergwiyn couldn’t get a game for the Dog & Duck….. until he has another great two minutes and then he’s the best rotation/cover striker *Jeremy Clarkson voice * in the world.

We’re looking good for top four….. until we get a couple of injuries and then we could be facing a relegation battle.

Bissouma is the next Zidane.

Have I covered everything?
And how do you Kulu is not quick you got a crystal ball. Obviously on the training ground with him pathetic statement!!!

Totally agree dm. Good players just have something about them and Romero is a really good player. Him, dier and Davies will make an excellent partnership.

Romero was a beast. I just love seeing Eric D in the defence too so I was a bit sad he wasn't playing. Davo played well though

In summary, I think we can all agree we were ultra comfortable but Bissouma was amazing for them and we have to have him

We were very comfortable in the second half. We allowed them to put some effort in trying to come back but we were firmly in control and didn't need to get out of 3rd gear. When we went into 4th we scored and should have put 2 more away. Basically we were toying with them.

Not sure I’d go that far. We were the better team and deserved to win for sure, but we were a bit sloppy in the 2nd half and as Brighton are a bit shit in the final third we didn’t get punished as we could have been and lost a bit of control.

However, the way Brighton play and with our ability to counter attack we always looked like we could get in against them.

That was his 12th goal in his entire career in 184 games (inc Internationals). Dembele scored 67 albeit in 660 games.
He played well, but not on the same planet as Dembele at the moment.

Dembele had once in a decade abilities. He was literally too good! Players used to give up trying to tackle him and would just jockey in the hope that he wouldn't embarrass them by casually walking past with the ball like they weren't there.

Bissouma is a very good player though.

Not a great second half in my opinion. Never really got to grips with Brighton's changes and were frequently right out of shape, and every aspect of our game dropped off tbh.

We'd ultimately done enough first half though, and the next round awaits.
I think we always had gears if we needed them, but Brighton were probing without really threatening.
Case in point as soon as they scored we turned up the intensity, which was a pleasant suprise.
As soon as Bentancur came on we were comfortable.

couple of thoughts..

Good win, very good performance.

kulu Isn't the quickest but his weight of pass is pretty goood. His movement is pretty intelligent. Could actually see him working well with doherty

bentacur looked pretty good in his cameo. Tidy on the ball and read the game well.

Romero on the other hand is bloody awesome!!! Wrap him in cotton wool after games and build our defence around him. So Classy!!!

COYS!!!!!

edit
ooooo ooo and shout out to big dave.. he did well too!!! saw him at cf at 1 point as well lmao!!!!

About 55 of them he scored as a forward at AZ and youth level as well. Come on now :p
Their goalscoring record as midfielders is about the same.

Bissouma was head and shoulders above any other midfielder on that pitch tonight. If his case gets resolved we need to pick him up, but I have a feeling that he'll end up at United...
