Saw the score earlier, but only just caught the game. I thought it could be divided into three parts.

This was another game, like last week, that was fairly stretched. Bournemouth tried their best throughout to press/engage high and were prepared to leave a lot of space between the lines. This is nuTottenham though, a team looking across the park comfortable and composed on the ball, and with a decent mix of pattern/structure in possession, individuals with press resistance, some who can move the ball, some with ability to carry the ball, and some who can cover the ground and make supporting runs without it, to dominate more open games. For the first 30 odd mins we were well in control and played through their pressing efforts with ease to develop situations going at their defence, scored a really nicely worked goal, and 1-0 was not really enough reward for our efforts.

Things then changed. From circa 30 mins up until the second goal I thought was by far our worst spell of a game under AP so far. Yes there are two teams on the pitch, and the opposition will always have parts of the game, but we did our best to assist this. We got a bit sloppy in possession at times, made some unnecessary errors, got a bit lazy, lost some structure, and in particular our midfield trio went right out of the game. Now look it’s not like we were clinging on at any point, there weren’t really any moments where we heavily rode our luck (as in previous weeks), but for a good half hour we totally lost control and didn’t impose our game at all. 2-0 came about a bit from nowhere and a little against the run of play.

That second goal though just completely knocked the stuffing out of them, and the last part of the game was piss easy with zero pressure on the ball, wide open spaces to go at, and really we should have helped ourselves to more goals. But yeah, a nice gentle stroll to the finish line ended proceedings.

All in all we did alright, clearly deserved to win, and another result and performance to go towards building momentum. Obviously things to iron out and I think there is a ton more to be done in the final third – both individually and structurally – and I’m looking forward to seeing us challenged at some point in an “attack vs. defence” scenario where we have to break down a compact low block defence, but again you have to say how refreshing it is to see a team that enjoys having the football and across the park plays with composure, a bit of risk, and can move the ball and take it to the opposition. Concepts too alien, for too long…

💯 mate it’s a combination of all of these things!

Dinosaur defensive tactics, shackling the players, bad man management and all of these things combined sucked all of the players enjoyment and confidence.

Ange has undone all that :)

In addition to the sagas regarding signing extensions of contracts -leaving more doubt and indecision.
It’s enough when a player does it but when a manager/coach elevates himself In that way it leaves a sour taste in the mouth IMO.
Thanks but no thanks

I dont think the weather conditions should be overlooked. It was an awful spell of rain… especially in the second half. The pitch was clearly soft, as you could see the ball kept slowing down, players slipping, ball getting caught under feet constantly… for both teams.

That for me, was the primary reason for the up and down display. The ball was slippery and surface bordering on waterlogged. Makes it even more challenging to control the ball, play precision passes, and stay on your feet when having to also deal with that.

Was at the game today, great atmosphere and good team performance. I’d say everyone had a good game apart from richy, Van de ven is class.

TNT/BT Sport is soooo much better to watch than Sky Sports.

The 2x female presenters asks great Q’s and have nice energy, J.Cole especially is a good pundit and Crouch isn’t too bad either, certainly way more watchable than bloody Roy Keane and Micha knownothing Richards etc.
One downside was Yesterday’s director; number of times the camera zoomed in on Ange, Bournemouth’s bench and even the crowd at times when play was going on. Frustrates the hell out of me.

He just caught his studs in the turf, and apparently didn't want to come off, but Ange thought that it was better to send 'Benny' on as subs have to be off for 30 seconds. (which I didn't know).
If you get treatment on the pitch this year you need to spend a minimum of 30 seconds on the sideline. To stop players going down "injured" to get treatment and then coming straight back on the pitch, breaking up play. New rules to prevent Newcastle level timewasting

Bad rule though because it further penalises teams treating genuine injuries.

I enjoyed this video for the most part. It's just a bloke standing outside the ground with a mic getting fan reactions - he clearly knew a lot of them but there were no personalities, no catchphrases, just (mostly) praise for us and good/insightful/honest analysis of the match.

Not sure if you're joking, but we definitely tried. It's not like we sat back and defended when we scored
Even if he is joking, To be honest he’s right, we should have had a lot more goals yesterday. At 1-0 Bournemouth had a chance to get back into the game, by then we could have been 3-0 up. I’m not saying we played bad but we could have been more clinical.

Yeah still missing an on form goalscorer in the front 3. Hopefully that goal will boost Kulusevski's confidence and see him replicating his form when he first joined us.

The other thing I think the first 3 games highlighted is we need more confidence to play first time into the box. I feel for Richarlison a bit here as the wingers can improve the service to him in this respect. To be honest the best at it so far has been Perisic when he has come on.

It is clear though we can be much more clinical around the opposition box to turn our dominance and quick transition into more goals.

We definitely need to add another Striker to this team, when Perisic came on we looked a lot more dangerous and direct, him and Udogie linked up well on that left hand side.

I don't agree, if they have a genuine injury it will take time to sort out on the sidelines anyway
Yes, but no need to make a rule for it then.

If the injury needs time, fine.

If it doesn’t, why penalise the team who have done nothing wrong and are a man down?

Sorry, I don't understand what you're saying? If the injury is genuine, they will spend an average of 30 seconds or so stretching out, checking them over, spraying deep heat/freeze etc anyway. If its a genuine injury, there's no difference with this rule. Genuine injuries don't come straight back on to the field if medical staff are required.

If a player is feigning injury to time waste and disrupt the flow of the game then they should spend the same amount of time off the field. It stops players from doing it. Why should a team be penalised by the other team breaking up play when they arent actually injured.

Edit - you are aware the 30 seconds is only a thing if the medical team enter the pitch right? This isn't for someone who has a spot of cramp or goes down for a few seconds
