Another questionable starting lineup, but I have complete faith in Mourinho.

Crucial difference between Mourinho and Poch, for me, is that Jose finds it much easier to make correct, decisive substitutions, and to get players fired up at half time (Moura the most obvious example today).

It’s no secret that there’s a lot of dross in our squad, and both managers have had to do the best with what they’ve got at this point. Difference being, Jose is consistently grinding out the wins, Poch did not.

I could not agree more. Jose Mourinho is a world class manager who is getting us the wins with the same players. Even the Chelsea game was lost primarily due to individual errors and frankly better opposition players. He’s getting us results and is figuring out the strengths of the squad pretty quickly. I think this is going to be a good era. Daniel Levy is no mug - he will be objectively looking at return on investment. If there is anyone on this planet who will be worth backing in the transfer market for 100 million - about 2 or 3 top quality players - it’s Jose Mourinho.

good at going forward!? He is so poor at attacking, slows things down, no trick, 8/10 of his balls in are atrocious. Guy is so poor. His positional sense as well is comical. Guy ends up closing down the opposition's right back!!!!!!! Aurier wasn't much better but his crossing ability helped cover up his poor positional sense and lack of pace.

I don’t disagree but Jose’s not going to turn the guy into Messi in about a month right? He’s got to get the bet out of him each game

I agree there is a risk of booking but it’s not as if the second one was a clear yellow. I think if Winks was sent off today it would have been very very harsh.

The way he tackles as well looks really reckless and out of control as he throws his body at the ball, there's an art tackling which he hasn't learnt yet.

No, of course not mate. But he's not going to get any better because its his attitude that is a big problem as well. He needs to be replaced and moved on. We can do better and there are players with a lot more potential out there who will offer A LOT more.

Although we were shite again, Jose is somehow picking up wins. When we were 14th not long ago, I was dreaming of even 5th place
Exactly. I think Mourinho understands that whatever a team is going through they need to pick up points at the same time. It is a results business.

Sorry I think I misunderstood. You were referring to Aurier?

Seems to me we were very slow in the first half until we went a goal down after which we upped the tempo completely and in no small part thanks to Lucas Moura in my opinion. Lucas looked like he thought fuck this I'm not having it and just took them on single handed and he carried on in the second half dragging the rest up with him.
Reasons to be optimistic, our manager knew we had to change and he brought on Lo Celso which made quite a difference and then Eriksen which completed the turn around and having taken the lead he swapped Moura for Dier to make sure we didn't lose it and to be honest they didn't really get near our goal after that so it obviously worked. That is what you get with Mourinho.

With so many games in such a short period, don’t know why Jose took off Sess - who should be fresh and fit, with so little game time. With Brighton’s players tiring out, Sess’s pace would have been an advantage.

Winning the match is the priority rather than players fitness.

I just want to say, after watching the game, that winks is rubbish today. Poor in both attack and defence.
He’s a funny one winksy, clearly loves the club but he’s quite a niche player. Today he got overrun by the Brighton players, I’ve seen him play enough games that I think he’s a good squad player but shouldn’t be starting CM for us.

If you play winks you need to play a cm 3 with him next to a defensive player and a box to box player who will support the striker.

But we really do need an upgrade for him, and all the CM players really.

Yep agree with that mate. It’s why he also did ok in the CL games on his own sitting as it was essentially a 4-1-4-1 and he had tons of space to recycle the ball, he suits European football better but even still he’s not quite the level we need him to be and we need to upgrade.

What happened to NDombole?
Asked if Ndombele was fit to face Brighton, Mourinho paused and said: ‘I cannot say that he is injured because in five minutes we start the training session that maybe you go to the stands and you can watch it. ‘And he’s going to be training normally. So I cannot say that he’s injured. I can say that yesterday he told me he was not feeling in conditions to play the game.'

Hmm a little worrying - seems like Jose not too pleased with something

Southampton 2-0 up on Chelsea. The Blues have not shown up today. Saints deservedly ahead and doing us a huge favour.
