Both managers have struggled with the same personnel. A pattern emerging perchance?
Well yes it seems to be. But it's not that we can't put 11 talented players out there is it. It's their attitude and application of whatever tactics they've been given. And I'd rather this was addressed instead of changing manager. i.e. root out the trouble makers and get rid rather than change to a new manager (with IMHO a much worse 'A' game) and hope that they respond

i don’t think it’s this simple. Whoever plays DM is on hiding to nothing for two reasons. The front players don’t press effectively enough and then regularly just saunter back leaving the DM to put out multiple fires. Secondly this stupid lopsided formation Jose is playing means one of the CMsalways needs to go out and cover the right side due to Aurier’s forays forward. This means the other CM is left to be outnumbered in the centre of the pitch.

I feel we need to get the balance right between possession football and counter-attacking direct football. We’ve gone too far towards the latter recently and just don’t seem to have any control of the match.Culminating in the shit shows we saw against Man U and Chelsea.

More intelligent and technical players we can fit in the side, the more quality we will have going forward and less chances to be consistently countered on. We’ve just go to be more coherent and purposeful rather than turning each match into a end-to-end pinball match because that’s a sure fire way to drop points.
Interesting but I think JM is trying to play to each player's strength.
So Aurier is good at going forward but poor defender and marking. So he tries and find the cover which is a big gap.
I think as we all see and in his mind JM knows that this squad is outdated and with many frailties but with some outstanding players who he rates highly like Kane and Alli.
It will take him a season or two to get the right balance. I personally think he's doing the best he can with what he's got at the moment.

Although we were shite again, Jose is somehow picking up wins. When we were 14th not long ago, I was dreaming of even 5th place

I feel Winks is getting unfair flak. First half he actually looked like he gave a shit. Other players were worse and put in much less effort.

Having said that, the second half looked like a proper midfield. Imagine having a third ball player like Ndombele with Eriksen and Celso in there with a proper DM sitting deep.

Sigh.

Winks isn't strong enough in a 2 in front of the back 4in the Prem!

1st half we were very poor & although we got better in the 2nd we still weren't great! Our 1st goal was a bit lucky, although our 2nd was quality, but we still didn't look like we could be sure of winning.

I said pregame watch everyone moan about Winks’s performance like the do Diers. At a point people have to realise that if you’re playing as a one man midfield, because your partner thinks he’s a right winger, then you’re not going to have a good game playing in there against 2/3 other players by themselves! ?

Nobody on this forum could stay with Sissoko on a football pitch but are very quick to slate him.

His running hurts teams.
Since when has whether a bunch of people on an Internet forum can keep up with someone been the yardstick to measure if a player is good enough?

I agree to an extent but he was lucky to not see red today. Should def have seen a second yellow before being subbed (that said first yellow was unlucky).

It was very unlucky. The guy simply collapsed. Winks was understandably upset

He dived in, that's the point, you're always risking a booking when you dive in.

I agree there is a risk of booking but it’s not as if the second one was a clear yellow. I think if Winks was sent off today it would have been very very harsh.

Not a very good game, that. We're painfully slow.

We need to get the ball forward, faster. Some of the good times we had was done by quick, counter attacking football. We take far too long to get going and teams just reorganize which makes it so hard for us to break down. It's hard enough as it is!

Nevertheless, a win and quality goals by Kane & Dele. Lo Celso for me looks and plays like a Rafa Van Der Vaart, I love when he comes on, he comes and gets the ball, wants it, and tries so hard to get us forward.

Moura can be so hit and miss, I love the guy and I will always have my Lucas-tinted glasses on but he overdoes it at times.

Recover and go again in a few days. COYS

good at going forward!? He is so poor at attacking, slows things down, no trick, 8/10 of his balls in are atrocious. Guy is so poor. His positional sense as well is comical. Guy ends up closing down the opposition's right back!!!!!!! Trippier wasn't much better but his crossing ability helped cover up his poor positional sense and lack of pace.
