The problem with this team is mentality and defensive frailty.
A good DM is imo priority.

I'd also like to see both Ndombele and GLC on for a full game.
It’s so clear that Winks, Ndombele, and Sissoko all perform best with a proper DM next to them. We just don’t have one. Such a hole.

We still haven't solved the issue at cm.
We looked better with players who like to play deeper. Winks is a good squad player to have, but he ain't no Eriksen or lo Celso on the ball.
Winks and Sissoko simply isn't a good enough midfield combination. Neither are good enough defensively and neither offer much going forwards.

If we were to only buy one player it has to be a proper ball winning, strong tackler DM.
We have talented midfielder going forward but so fragile to defend

Agree, and Dier's legs have gone (at least at the moment) and Ndombele just isn't staying fit, so we are stuck with 3 players who shouldn't be starting.

If we can get a good cm pairing that can move the ball and help protect the back line, we will see a better performance.

Injury I think.
He was down with cramp I thought. Or 'tactical cramp' maybe? He was up walking straight after. He would have been knackered from running everywhere as he covered a lot of distance

Great win in the end. 12:30 on Boxing Day was always going to be a flat affair, to come back from one nil down at HT under those circumstances is impressive.

not often you see players still out of breath in the post match interview - both Dele and Kane gave everything today

Winks needs to be sacrificed. He isn’t a DM nor is he at all creative so doesn’t satisfy in any area. Personally think he would be worth selling as his value will be higher than his worth imo.

I’m certain sissoko in midfield causes more problems than it solves.

He’s not technical enough to play there. Play him out wide if we need to. He’s a squad player if we have decent central midfield options.
