Winks needs to be sacrificed. He isn’t a DM nor is he at all creative so doesn’t satisfy in any area. Personally think he would be worth selling as his value will be higher than his worth imo.

We sell him we start to reduce the home grown and club trained player.

He is a good squad player, he is now way a DM, but has energy, can get stuck in and has an OK range of passing.
Nothing amazing, but we should keep him imo.

Nobody on this forum could stay with Sissoko on a football pitch but are very quick to slate him.

His running hurts teams.

Only when he runs through players... His passing after that is more miss than hit. Just like his shooting...

I'm also sure Sissoko wouldn't keep up with Bolt, but he isn't making it as a footballer.

I’m certain sissoko in midfield causes more problems than it solves.

Sissoko has helped our midfield a lot over the last season and half, but he should be a squad player. The issue is CM, we don't have a good enough pairing there just now and out wide, full backs army good enough and Moura doesn't offer enough when plays (doesn't pick a pass quick enough or track back enough)

Still a few areas we need to sort in January...and hopefully we get them sorted quickly.

But hes much better on the right instead of centre mid. Problem is hes trusted in centre mid over other better options.

Who needs to keep up with him... He's probably left the ball on the edge of our 18 yard box anyway!

Of course like all players he has weaknesses and strengths.

Just depends what people want to focus on.

Great win in the end. 12:30 on Boxing Day was always going to be a flat affair, to come back from one nil down at HT under those circumstances is impressive.

The atmosphere was terrible today. A whole load of new faces around me in the south lower who couldn’t be bothered to sing, even when the team really needed our support in the second half and they barely celebrated when we scored.

What’s the point of coming to football and especially sitting in the south stand. It’s really annoying. They make you feel like you’re mad if you start singing.

If we were to only buy one player it has to be a proper ball winning, strong tackler DM.
We have talented midfielder going forward but so fragile to defend

i don’t think it’s this simple. Whoever plays DM is on hiding to nothing for two reasons. The front players don’t press effectively enough and then regularly just saunter back leaving the DM to put out multiple fires. Secondly this stupid lopsided formation Jose is playing means one of the CMsalways needs to go out and cover the right side due to Aurier’s forays forward. This means the other CM is left to be outnumbered in the centre of the pitch.

I feel we need to get the balance right between possession football and counter-attacking direct football. We’ve gone too far towards the latter recently and just don’t seem to have any control of the match.Culminating in the shit shows we saw against Man U and Chelsea.

More intelligent and technical players we can fit in the side, the more quality we will have going forward and less chances to be consistently countered on. We’ve just go to be more coherent and purposeful rather than turning each match into a end-to-end pinball match because that’s a sure fire way to drop points.

Sissoko and Winks started though. Not perfect but leagues better than Dier/Sissoko. Personally I think Winks/NDombele could work when the latter gets up to speed. However any CM 2 is gonna struggle when one of them is always asked to vacate midfield and cover for Aurier.

Yeah I’d have been interested to see Winks / Sissoko.

We really do need a new right back though (and a defensive midfielder).

I hope Jose knows this and is just playing silly mind games to the press!

He’s a link player with high energy, good discipline, and ability to take the ball in tight spaces and make good decisions. If the team is pressing effectively he can absolutely play as a DM but I agree he struggles with our current setup as there are too many holes in midfield. He’s asked to cover for players who carelessly lose the ball further forward and then jog back with little urgency.
