Hugo
Tanganga - Toby - Rodon - Davies
Lo Celso - PEH - Ndombele
Bale - Kane - Bergwijn (or Lucas)

A solid base, muscle, workrate and a bit of skill in the centre with goals up front - you then have Lucas/Bergijn, Lamela, Dele, Vini to come off the bench if needed.

i hope Rodon is back in the side, although Ryan seems to like Dier, so I'm not so sure he will be.

Im sorry but after Sunday, if Dier or Toby got dropped it would be ridiculous. They were brilliant. Rodon may be good one day and has potential but quite why people make him out to be a world beater right now confuses me.

I'm able to admit that I probably like & appreciate Lamela more than many of our supporters do. And my opinion is probably clouded by the appreciation that I have for his desire to fight for the club more than most of the players on our books.

The lad gives a shit & I just personally like that. But I can also appreciate I'm very much in a minority with my opinion, and do acknowledge & accept people thinking the exact opposite to myself.
Please hold my beer!

If Rodon is going to be ahead of Dier next season (provided Dier is still at the club then), then we should be giving Rodon as much game time as we can for these last few remaining matches so that he’ll be ready for next season and also getting used playing with the other regular starters.

We’ve all seen and know what Dier can do but having one good game in the FC Final shouldn’t be a reason for him to get a starting slot.

Rodon has hardly gotten much game time since he’s been here and he’s not performed badly whenever he played for us.
Bit harsh on Dier who had a good game on Sunday but not against Rodon starting.

I don't know man, this whole season our defensive players have been having stellar performances one day, and horrible performances a few days/games after. Even Toby has exhibited this behavior from time to time, so I don't think it really matters which defensive players/formation is chosen, they are all too unreliable.

Yeah because I’m sure he didn’t want to start the final. If you can’t see and appreciate the quality he still has then I feel sorry for you

Lloris

Tanganga Toby Rodon Reguilon

Lamela PEH Ndombele

Bale Kane Lucas

Subs : Hart, Aurier, Dier, Lo Celso, Dele, Son, Bergwijn

Wouldn’t mind seeing Bergwijn start in Son’s place, who needs a game on the bench. Rodon must start every game with Toby from now on, and I’d rather give Tanganga a run at RB

You're telling me about seeing quality, but you wanna bench Son , ??

Bit harsh on Dier who had a good game on Sunday but not against Rodon starting.

I agree that Dier had a good game in the final but I’m trying to look ahead. Dier may ( or may not ?‍♂️) be sold in the summer but Rodon will still be with the club. If Rodon was eligible for the final, I think there was a good chance that Mason would have started him against Saints and then in the final too.

I’ve nothing against starting Dier but on average across the season, we know of Dier’s limitations , however I feel that Rodon deserves more game time as he’s hardly disappointed whenever he was called upon to play.

Rodon also needs the game time to pick up more experience for the good of his future as well as that of the club, if he is here for the long term. The more chances he gets, the quicker he can get used to playing with the other members of the squad.

I personally don’t think that Rodon is any worse than Dier other than having less experience at the top level. I think we’ve come to the point of the season that we should be using more of the players that we intend keeping beyond the summer.

Players like Winks & Sissoko (and a few others) shouldn’t be considered anymore. I’d rather have some youth players on the bench if other first teamers are unavailable.

I do agree with you. Can't be arsed to find one of my posts from a few weeks ago but effectively I said pair Rodon with Toby for the rest of the season.

I just think Mason will pick Dier based on.....Dier being a mate...and being one of 3 players who did ok in the final.

I would consign Winks and Sissoko to the bin too. Unfortunately we don't have too much depth in midfield and I have no knowledge of the youth team prospects so again I expect them on the bench at least (Winks may get some game time based on being mates with Mason.....) 5 games left and then hopefully both will be sold.

As coopsieyid says " Lamela actually gives a shit " if some of the others had his commitment we would not be in the position we are in now .
When you are playing and losing or drawing a game if Lamela is brought on as a sub the impetus of the game is changed for the good .
He is one of my favourite players for all his faults he has far more important good things going for him and us .

He might as well pick the team out of a hat what with his ridiculous team selections and substitutions for the cup final

The issue Mason has to solve is how to stop the team playing with fear and instil some passion. We just have so many broken players at the moment that it does not much matter who he selects or how he sets them up.

The big dilemma is how to play out from the back when no-one is prepared to take responsibility. Oliver Skipp will instantly improve us on his return - thank God Mourinho never got his hands on him.

For now I would try:

Loris

Tanganga Toby Dier Cirkin
Holjberg Ndombele
Lamela Lo Celso Lucas
Kane

subs: Hart, Lavinier, Reguillon, Rodon, Winks, Devine, Dele, Bergwijn, Son
